The Anantara Lawana resort in Koh Samui was a lovely hotel to spend a few days in, following a week catering for ourselves in a villa on Koh Phangan. The rooms were lovely and spacious and the gardens beautiful. We were quite high up so there were lots of steps down to the pool, beach and main restaurant! The breakfast buffet was excellent, the restaurant staff very helpful - especially the manageress, although it would have been nice to have the option of a buffet in the evening instead of the a la carte menu, which was OK for 3 days but we wouldn't have wanted the same menu for a week. It would also have been nice to be able to try out the fine dining Tree Tops restaurant but the hotel wouldn't allow us a credit on the half board payment we had already made in advance. There was also lots of water provided every day in the rooms, so why charge for still water at dinner in the restaurant, it didn't make sense. Happy hour from 4 to 6 every day was good, otherwise the drinks were pretty expensive, especially the house wine.

We were in Anantara hotel from 08 to 12 of July and we don’t have enough words to describe the treatment received by the entire team of Anantara Hotel
From room service, recepcionists, waiters. Etc, I would not like to forget anyone, because they were all exceptionally kind to us

Loved our stay in a 2bedroom private villa. Fabulous rooms with an amazing private pool. Although the food was very good it was a little over priced for what you actually got on occasion. Breakfast was always delicious and fresh. We were looked after everyday by RUS who couldn’t do enough for us. Always greeted us with a big smile.Treetops was a great experience with delicious food. The staff are amazing. So polite and respectful they are a credit to this hotel. My daughter and I spent the morning in the Spa and it was beautiful. The ambience as well as the staff with amazing options. The downside is the beach. No clear blue water that you see in travel brochures. The location is good and if dining out of the resort Fisherman’s Village is a 15 min taxi ride with some great restaurants. Eg Gusto and Coco Tams.
Overall a beautiful hotel that I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone.

We stayed here for 8 nights in a one bedroom pool villa and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The airport transfer worked smoothly and the information the hotel send through in advance of that is helpful as the greeting point for all pick ups is a little bit away from where you first emerge from arrivals. the hotel is a short 10 mins drive from the airport but you don't hear air traffic at the resort. after a very warm welcome we were taken to our villa which was brilliant. a large lounge room, separate large bedroom, separate large bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers and then a patio with sunbeds and a separate large pavilion with daybed, together with a very decent sized pool all set in a lovely garden. the nespresso machine was welcome and you can bluetooth with the alarm clock/radio by the bed to connect with your own music. we loved it. i have to thank the resort for making such an effort for my partner's birthday, with a cake and a couple of glasses of prosecco and singing happy birthday at breakfast and then a couple of glasses of champagne at dinner plus an incredible array of happy birthday decorations on the bed in the villa. the villa was so nice it was hard to leave but we also enjoyed the main infinity pool and there's a couple of areas to lounge on the beach, one out on the beach itself with loads of sunbeds and umbrellas and another more shady one under some trees with a bigger assortment of seating. The grounds of the resort are beautiful and its a bit like staying in a tropical botanic garden. Food wise, the breakfast array is large with all the western options you could think of and some chinese, japanese, indian and middle eastern options too. There is a legion of staff on duty for breakfast which made for attentive service. Good coffee too. As some others have noted, the restaurants aren't air conditioned in the resort and while it was warm, we were on holiday to be warm so this was fine with us. We also found sitting on the lowest level of the restaurant by the beach in the shade the most comfortable option. We did enjoy the food and staff at the crab shack for lunch too and the evening happy hours is a good deal. We also had dinner at tree tops which I've reviewed separately. The resort is well located as its out of the hubbub and hawkers of downtown chaweng but only a 10 min cheap taxi ride away if you do want to go in. its also close to bohput. weather wise we were there in second half of june and found the weather sunny and dry most days with a couple of brief showers. Overall the staff were consistently great, happy, helpful and engaging and thanks to Jumjim, Kate and Mr T for taking such good care of us and Cafe for being a truly excellent host and taking a personal interest in finding out what we enjoyed and making some great personalised picks for us - she's a star. All up this resort is a great choice.
