We stayed here for 5 nights in March to attend a wedding. Excellent, efficient and friendly staff dealt with check in quickly. The resort and grounds are beautiful especially the infinity pool and beach area. We had a standard room which was still of a high quality with a comfortable bed, large bathroom and outside deck /seating. My only complaint was that the AC switched off when leaving the room which meant it always took some time to cool off when returning. Breakfast is nothing short of epic and easy to get around Chaweng. Highly recommended.

Dear pmclondon,

We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the wedding ceremony and party. It’s always something very special for us as well and we want to ensure that everything is perfect on such an important occasion.

Living on an island like Samui it becomes even more important that we are looking after our resources and environment. Therefore we installed power safety switches that ensure that unnecessary appliances are turned off when the room is not being used. My apology if this caused some inconveniences, but I hope for your understanding and support for the greater cause.

Hopefully you had a good trip back to London and we are looking forward welcoming you back.

With kind regards

After 4 flights and 36 hours of traveling our expectations had been numbed a little so when we checked in we were delighted with the service and the smiles. We spent the entire time at the pool and beach so the room to be honest was not a top priority - although it was perfect for what we were after. The breakfast beats most larger hotels hands down. The pool is one of the best in Thailand and you have access to a multitude of higher end restaurants via taxi. We recommend you try Dining on the Rocks at Six Senses. We are coming back.

Room Tip: If you are a beach/pool junkie go deluxe. Spending more time in the room or on a honeymoon go the views.

where do I start. when we arrived it was like walking into paradise. check in was quick and painless (although hoodwinked in to a timeshare meeting). The plunge pool room was amazing and completely private, very clean and well serviced. the breakfast buffet is great and whilst eating the view is great looking out over the sea. the breakfast staff are great and nothing is a problem. pool and beach staff will sort all you need and you only have to pick a drinks menu up and they appear like magic. the beach is spotless and every afternoon the pineapple and corn on the cob guys come to the beach(great nibbles for 50bhat each) also free use of the kayaks is great and it takes about 1.1/2 to go around the opposite island.it takes about 40 mins to walk down to chaweng.
we did the thai cooking coarse which was fantastic. the hotel staff took us to a local market then when back an we cooked a 5 coarse meal. well worth the money.
ocean kiss and tree tops are the two great hotel restaurants great service really good food.
if there was a small let down it was check out which was a little cold feeling in such a friendly place

Dear muttleymr,

Thank you for staying with us and sharing your great comments here on TripAdvisor.

My apology if the check out experience was not of the same level as the rest of your stay, something I will discuss with the team and ensure we will improve this.

I am a bit curious though which way you took walking to Chaweng as usually that should take you only 10-15min walking. After 40min you must have reached pretty much the end of Chaweng…

We hope being able welcoming you back in the future.

With kind regards

We usually stay in Bophut but this time we came for a wedding so we stayed at the bride and grooms hotel.

I wasn't looking forward to it as its not our usual place, but the hotel was great. The rooms are wonderful - we stayed in a normal deluxe as my husband couldn't come so it was just me and the children. There was ample room and a nice balcony/outdoor area. I felt extremely safe - important when travelling on ones own with childre. I saw lots of rooms as had a lot of friends staying. You can get rooms that have lounge room that can be changed into second bedroom for kids and these rooms have own decent sized pools. You can also get pool villa one bedroom rooms that connect - perfect if travelling with another couple.

Beds are super comfy, bathrooms nice, amenities good. I felt very safe and comfortable. Staff are excellent , they can't do enough to help you and whilst there is no kids club, this is a child friendly hotel. Staff are welcoming of children, but the place isn't over run with kids. Loved the pool area - the day beds are so comfortable, beautiful infinity pool and lovely beach setting.
l
Chef Matthias was great, looking after my sons food allergy issues and the food was amazing. All staff were so friendly and willing to do whatever it took to make our stay perfect.

The wedding we attended was incredible. If anyone is thinking about a wedding in Thailand , book here!!! Food at the wedding was magical as was the setting and the whole hotel basically came and watched the wedding. It was an amazing experience.

My only complaint is poor lighting in the room.

Overall, a very memorable and enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Room 111 is good. Room 435 connects with another room. Shared pool rooms not recommended if you have kids as you will need to keep them quiet!!

Dear CindiD,

Thank you very much for your wonderful and detailed review.

We are especially glad to hear that you felt well looked after and your kids have been happy while enjoying the wedding party.

Maybe we really converted you from a Bophut traveler to a Chaweng traveler?? Would be happy welcoming you back one day to find out.

With kind regards

Chose to stay here based on great tripadvisor reviews. The resort is beautiful - truly 5 star - set on a hill with the main infinity pool and restaurants down facing the beach. The beach is really lovely - small and safe for swimming, and my husband and 4 year old kayaked to the island across from the resort. The day beds/cabanas are amazing - especially at happy hour - you feel like you're in Ibiza or something! The resort is very modern, unlike the look of some of the other more dated resorts that I was also considering booking. We travelled with our almost 1 and 4 year old daughters and the staff doted over them. We loved the breakfast buffet!!!! The resort is not overrun with children and there is no kids club, which I prefer - and my girls are happy to swim in the pool all day rather than do activities.
Re rooms - my advice is - if you are tossing up between 2 different room types - spend the extra money and get the better room. Thailand is a long way to travel so you may as well err on the side of luxury! We had originally booked a deluxe standard room but found it was too small for our 2 girls and us - would be fine for a couple, or even with 1 infant. With the wonderful help of the lovely Tumm we upgraded to a pool villa which was fit for a king for 2 nights, and then a pool access room for the remaining 3 nights, which was also amazing and enough room for the 4 of us. Also - I recommend booking your accommodation earlier rather than closer to the date - I found the prices were cheaper 3 months out compared to just days before arrival, even when rooms were available.
We got babysitting one night which was great - not cheap but good to do when on holidays as a treat. We couldn't get into Treetops dining regrettably, it looked amazing and unique. We tried to get into Zazen restaurant in Bophut which was also booked out, but the menu and atmosphere was amazing! Had lobster on the beach at Fisherman's Village instead which was nice.
Other suggestions:
Eranda day spa is across the road and definitely worth a visit - I loved the steam cave and waterfall plunge pool!!
Tuk tuk into town is $3 (100THB) compared to $6 for a taxi - makes it an expensive round trip if you take taxis all the time, as there is no shuttle
We hired a car and discovered Crystal Bay - a stunning tropical beach with great swimming for kids
Namueng waterfall - not much to write home about AND had to get on a 4WD to get up the hill to access it (we are spoilt for beautiful waterfalls in Australia!)
Didn't get to Nathon markets but heard it's great for bargains compared to prices in town if you're looking for imitations and cheap stuff (maybe like Phuket Town markets??)
Overall - Anantara will stay in my memory forever! We loved all of it.

Room Tip: spend the extra money and book the room type you want! and don't wait for last minute deals - better prices 3 months' out. Deluxe standard rooms are OK if you plan to spend most of your time at the pool/in town etc, otherwise get a pool access room.

Dear GCreviewer,

We are as glad that you picked us and even took the time sharing your feedback with other TripAdvisor users. Great that you and your little family enjoyed your stay so much.

All our babysitters are actually licensed babysitters which went through a special training course in order to ensure the maximum safety and care of the children that we are looking after. Therefore a slight surcharge on them, which I hope are justified.

Hopefully we will be able welcoming all 4 of you back in the future.

With kind regards
