We loved every minute of our stay at the Anantara Lawana (five nights in August). We flew all night to reach Koh Samui mid-morning and although we were nearly passing out with exhaustion, the staff at check-in revived our spirits with a refreshing drink of pineapple juice and ginger, served in the air-conditioned library, and brought all check-in materials to us instead of making us sit and sweat it out in the open-air lobby. Unused to the humidity of the island, this was very welcome, as was the news that they had arranged a temporary room for us until our rooms could be made ready. The care and service that followed over the next five days has to be experienced to be believed. There wasn't anything they wouldn't do for us - food cooked to our likes and dislikes, tours arranged for our group, even umbrellas provided in our room for the unpredictable rainshowers! The Thai cooking class (a must-do, thanks to Chef Matt and Chef Bert for their expert guidance) was an incredible amount of fun and culminated in a feast at the Ocean Kiss restaurant. The spa was first-rate. Tranquility, pampering, and utter relaxation all to be found within the walls of the Anantara Lawana - I'd go back there in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: The villas with shared pool are an amazing bargain.

Sawasdee ka/krub!

I would like to thank you on behalf of my wife and my self for … everything.
For your country, for your island, for your hotel (what a nice hotel), for your hospitality, warm welcomes, smiling faces, constant assistance, for the nice room (with the sea view!), for small flower surprises, for the soaps (we stole some – not towels, just soaps), for the breakfasts (great ice lattes), for Tree Tops, for cool afternoons, for happy hours (vanilla sky is our favorite), nice music (those guys play great music), the beach, the trees, even the rain.
Atmosphere, elegance, grace, kindness, beauty…
Everything was there.

I hope to see you in our 5th or 10th year anniversary.
Thanks to you all for making our honeymoon unforgettable.

With Love,
Selin & Emir Kefelioglu

Spending part of my holiday at Anantara was a great experience, everytime passing through the resort feeling like home, greetings from everywhere, and exceptionally treated by the stuff no matter when and where I've been chilling. Nice location, actually nearby one can find the greatest little town of the island, Chaweng, which has nice night life, always buzzling streets, nice massages, stores and everything you would need on your holiday. The hotels beach, however, was a little weird, by the night transformed, due to the ebb tide happenings. The pool was extremely nice, the beds were really convenient and comfortable. Foodwise, the breakfast was just amazing, a wide variety of fresh juices, fruits, cereals, freshly made omelettes, local and international dishes, accompanied with carefull stuff ready to satisfy any wish. On the other hand, the lunch was waaay overpriced at the OceanKiss restaurant, followed by evening offerings which were, again, convenient, and well priced. They tend to organise every night some themed event, bbqs on the beach, with buffet serve, you can give it a try if you dont want to spend your night in the town, as we did. Definitely would stay again at this hotel.

Dear Orsolya,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review and your most recent stay. We are glad to learn that you enjoyed your stay at the resort and on Samui.

The location to Chaweng is certainly a benefit and we are happy that you took advantage of it. Usually our prices are well calculated in order to provide the best possible value for money. Based on your comments we will review our lunch offerings once again and might better promote our daily specials.

We are looking forward welcoming you back.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Anantara Lawana Resort & Spa for 8 nights in July.

After a long and stressful flight we arrived at the Anantara and were greeted by Zita. She was really friendly and made us forget about all the long travel. We were asked to take a seat and were served two delicious welcome drinks.

We had booked a Deluxe room and inquired about a possible upgrade to a "plunge pool" villa. After showing us both rooms we decided that the Deluxe room would be just fine for us. Our room was 520 and we really loved it. Of course there are more luxurious rooms at this hotel, but this was absolutely sufficient for us. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the minibar was filled with pretty much anything you could possibly imagine. Of course there are a couple corners that could use a little touching up, but after all this is Thailand. So no big deal.

There is no free in-room wi-fi which didn't really bother us since the purpose of our visit was to relax and not to be bothered by emails, facebook, etc. :-)

We tried both restaurants and both of them were absolutely amazing. We tried the OceanKiss on our first night and were served some delicious thai curry & pad thai. Service was great and the cocktails made life so much more enjoyable.

We also got to try the tree tops restaurant and probably had our best dinner on the island with an amazing view from our table. They have a "wine & salt guru" who will recommend the perfect wine and salt to go along with your food. I actually got to learn a couple words of Thai from our waitress. :-)

Breakfast was amazing and they had everything you could possibly ask for. Service at the pool was outstanding as well. They bring you fresh iced towels & freshly made sorbet to cool off on a hot summer day!

Being from the hotel industry ourselves we appreciated the good work and passion put in by the entire staff. Especially Zita, Sunny, Pla & our waitress at the tree tops (unfortunately I forgot her name). We know how hard it is to maintain this level of service day in and day out. Also the security guys at the entrance & the beach are so unbelievably friendly & make you feel very welcome. Two thumbs up for that!

The entire complex is very well taken care of, you see gardeners taking care of all the plants every day.

When we return to Koh Samui, the Anantara Lawana Resort & Spa will surely be our first choice.

Btw Lars, if you need more qualified staff, just give us a call. :-)

Anantara Lawana is a beautiful resort. Its so close to the airport, walking distance to town... but what makes the place are the staff and amazing accomodation. We cannot fault the place. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Our accomodation was a private villa with our own pool. It was the perfect place to unwind and relax from the normal hectic pace in London. The resort is relatively small which makes it intimate and the staff know you after a few hours. The beach bar is great in the evening and the 'Night Sessions' band were fantastic. It's very romantic too... dinner on the beach etc. Not a place really for kids which was perfect for us.. the other Anantara is for that... and so glad we didn't stay there when we went over to it.

if you're looking to put your feet up, lap up some rays, have some excellent food (try the Treetops restaurant and ask for cabin 8 - it's amazing)... this is the place. Highly highly recommend and already trying to figure out when we can get back!!

Room Tip: Basic rooms are good, but definitely recommend upgrading when you get there (see if you can bargin a...

After a long flght to the island we arrive to the resort located very close to the airport just on one side of a busy and noisy road, we well asked to sit down and wait for the check in, after a while they ask for us to wait for and hour, then for half an hour more, in the end we wasted half of our day going back and forth to the reception trying to get to our romm. In general the resort is ok but it does not stand for the five star category you pay for.

Dear 2010manu,

Thank you very much for your most recent stay.

Please accept our apology that the room hasn’t been available immediately upon your arrival. Unfortunately those situations can arise occasionally during High Season periods where the hotel is running full and some guests are arriving early while others are departing late. Whenever we have arrival times available we are better able to avoid this and are sorry that this wasn’t handled more efficient in your case.

It was a last minute decision to go on a holiday 2 weeks ago only arriving back in melbourne yesterday from koh samui staying in the Anantara resort in chaweng so i thought i'd write a few comments whilst this amazing place is still fresh in my head..

To start with the service from reception was amazing with drinks on overall, easy check in and even getting into our room 4 hrs before check in time. We stayed in a Private plunge pool room which we found amazing and perfect for a couple, the little pool was perfect to jump into after a long day, night out, or even to enjoy a drink before heading. The bedroom had everything you needed comfortable bed tv and the usual items, The out door bathroom was a new experience but one we loved..

The resort was immaculately maintained with gardners greeting you with a friendly hello each morning as we walked to breakfast.
Now to one of my favourite parts of the day breakfast, and it could only be summed up with AMAZING. Any type of breakfast food you could of imagined was there from the ppl at the egg counter to the abudance of fresh pastries, coldmeats, fruits, breads, bacon and so on and so on, if your like me and love food you want be dissapointed.

The pool and surrounding areas where amazing from the sun lounge's on the beach, around the pool and the elevated sandy area above the pool where sensational. So relaxing.

We only stayed there for 6 nights and by half way through our stay most of the staff new our names i cannot express enough how nice the staff where, some of the friendliest people ive ever meet, Santi one of the men that works at the pool bar and around the pool is a champion if you happen to stay at this resort im sure you'll meet him and im sure he'll make your holiday that much more enjoyable as he did for us..

Another tip is to try the cooking lesson taken by chef Coco on the resort it was one of the highlight of our trips, it wasnt just a cooking lesson it was the whole experience from him taking us to the local market to meeting the locals to tasting there fresh fruits and vegatables, We headed back to the resort to start cooking our first meal in an outdoor kitchen overlooking the pool and beach, me and my girlfriend choose 2 different menus we both cooked our starters under chef cocos instructions using ingredients that you never even knew existed, then to sit down and eat our starters on a private table overlooking the beach then back up again to cook the mains and so on and so on.
They include another staff member there taking photos which we were then giving to on a cd to take home along with aprons, recipes and a certificate.
Chef Coco went out of his way to get us some ingredients to take home as i havent ever seen some of them in aus but im sure there around. If your going to stay at anantara taking the lesson with Coco is a must his a funny guy that made it a very enjoyable stay..

Our last night we dined at tree tops, its a tad expensive for chaweng but the food was to die for especially the tuna rack of lamb, the atomosphere sitting in a private tree top table fully secluded with beach views was amazing and to the friendly staff that brought a birthday cake for my girlfriend a day before her bday to a table was truely a surprise seen we didnt mention it to them, haha and there she is thinking i organised it when i was actually just as shocked as her but played along pretending i organised it all haha

i just realised how much ive just written and thought thats enough theres more to tell but you'll have to expiernce the rest yourself when you get there...

Perfect holiday, Friendliest staff all in an amazing setting cant wait to get back there
