“Quiet rural cottage great for discovering Normandy”
Reviewed February 12, 2015 for a stay in July 2014

My 20 year old son & I spent a week here in the summer. It is in a beautiful, peaceful location, although a bit tricky to find initially! There are no shops in the immediate vicinity but it's just a short drive to the nearest town and there a big supermarche at Pont-Audemer.. We drove to the nearest town one evening for the Bastille day fireworks! It's a great base for visiting the area. Bayeux, Caen, Liseux, Honfleur and the Normandy coast and D-Day beaches are all within easy reach by car. We managed to fit a lot into our week.
The cottage itself is set in a very large beautiful garden, looking out over fields. Absolute peace and quiet! There is outside seating and a bbq. The inside of the cottage is rustic and cosy. There is a big table to eat round and a sofa and chairs by the lovely big fireplace. The kitchen is small but functional and we found everything we needed. The only slight criticism I have is that there is nowhere to put clothes etc upstairs. No drawers or wardrobes. As there were only 2 of us staying we put all our clothes on the small bed that is on the landing and I managed to hang some hangers on a nail sticking out of a beam. It might be a problem if there were more people staying although because of the sloped roof and beams I'm not sure where you could put a wardrobe anyway! There is a wardrobe downstairs for coats and I guess you could use this to hang things but it's not ideal. This is a very small problem though and there are worse things than having to drape clothes over a chair!
We had a lovely stay here, great location and great accommodation and would happily come back again

“Excellent value for typical Normandy gite”

Lovely gite and gardens in the middle of the countryside. There are no facilities nearby but as we used it as a base for sightseeing this did not present us with any problems. In fact, it is ideally positioned for trips to lovely surrounding towns and villages and to the coast (30 mins), Bayeux (1 hr 40mins), D-Day beaches and even Paris (2 hrs) by car.
The accommodation is fairly basic but has everything you need for a family of 4. It could do with some drawers to put clothes in and the lighting in the evening is a little dull. Overall however we found it to be excellent value for money. Tip: could do with more specific directions on how to get there as it is quite difficult to locate - don't turn up for the first time in the dark!
