Couldn't fault the meal, both starters & mains were delicious.
Staff were very polite and gave a very good service...... until we'd finished our main course.
Granted we were all full but it would have been nice to be shown the dessert menu & asked if we'd like coffee
The restaurant wasn't overly busy so we could find no reason why this wasn't done.
We will return as the food was lovely, but a little more attention to the customer would be nice.

Family meal on a monday night.
Needed to book as it was busy, but this didnt slow down service. Waitress was polite and helpful and the food was hot and delicious. I can recommend the steak and ale pie mmmmm :) lots to choose from between the pub menu and the a la carte menu, all looked lovely and reasonably priced too. We werent offered tea/coffee/dessert but were too full any way. Will definately go back.
- oh and FYI - Christmas menu looks lovely too £19 for three courses is a great deal if your about area.

We were staying at the nearby Forest Hills Hotel (which, by the way, is a great hotel) and needed to feed a tired and fractious toddler... We chose the Travellers Rest based on a decent menu and proximity to our hotel... The welcome we received was great - which you don't always get with a 2year old! They happily served a bowl of rice for junior, we had Thai Curry and Hot Pot both dishes were excellent. Waitresses were attentive without being intrusive. If we find ourselves in the area we'll definitely visit again.

My wife and I stumbled upon this little gem by accident.... we were returning home via a more scenic route than the motorway and had decided that at the next decent place we would stop off for a bite to eat.... what a stroke of luck!
Not much to look at from the outside, but once inside, good decor, a warm welcome, wide selection of beer and most importantly...... excellent food.

The quality of food and service was exceptional and we will be returning to sample more in the near future.

This is the third time we've eaten at this restaurant.
On this occasion we were staying at the nearby Holiday Inn Hotel.
Chose the Thai fish cake with the chilli dip-which were lovely, followed by the rump steak which was absolutely gorgeous! I still had room to pinch some of my partners sticky toffee pudding which was really good too! Lovely atmosphere, decor & staff and reasonably priced for the high standard and quality of food and service. I would recommend that you telephone forward to book as its been very busy all three times we've been. Look forward to our next visit!
