Stopped here on a tour of the UK with nephews soccer team. Beautiful village of Frodsham, flowers all over the place. The pub serves typical British fare. Open seating, order and pay at the bar. Food delivered to your table. We had hot chicken pot pies , very, very tasty hot and delicious. Atmosphere is very nice with outdoor seating available in the courtyard. Appetizers and desserts are also delicious, with very friendly service. Pub is right on the main street in center of village and easily accessible from the M56 motorway.

I have eaten here on quite a few occasions so have sampled different dishes, all of which have been faultless. Service is spot on. The decor is a nice touch also. The price is also great.

4 of us ate here recently, and I had the meat pie,( meat bacon ale ?). It was served with a pot of gravy, so I opened the pie to pour the gravy into it. Sadly the pie had only one piece of meat inside about the size half a little finger. The rest was gravy and crust. I took it back and complained. Fortunately a relief manageress was in the premises, and she was very good, offering alternative food and spending the necessary time to smooth things over. My friend had scampi, which was grim, and actually received a refund. He went across the road and bought fish and chips. Our two wives had burgers which they enjoyed. I had a replacement meal of the burger, which was also fine. Full marks to the relief manageress, low marks to the caterers

Had lunch here today really looking forward to a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord but unfortunately it wasn't on - ho well the Old Speckled Hen was on form. Went to order food - the Cold Platter for sharing wasn't on (waiting for delivery!), the Hot Steak Ciabatta wasn't on - no steak! No sweet potato fries either. On the good side the mushrooms on toast and the roasted vegetable and flatbread were fine but not what we really wanted. Also the ladies opposite who had the poached egg and asparagus salad were not impressed either as they left the salad after complaining that it was not fresh.
It seems a shame as the pub is in a prime location and the staff are really friendly, but maybe they need a smaller menu or something that really says what is available that day. All in all just dissapointing.
