“I left my heart in Treasure Cay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2013

We stayed at the resort for 8 days prior to Christmas. It was wonderful. The resort was clean and the staff was so friendly and hospitable. I liked how everyone greeted us as we walked past them. We loved our little condo - no one should complain that it isn't great unless you're expecting to stay at a fancy NYC hotel - these are the islands! We constantly left our doors wide open to let the sea breezes blow through our room - not one bug inside our room. We often sat on the porch and watched for sea turtles, dolphins and boats coming in from sea. There were few people around which made things quiet and peaceful. The beach was amazing - even if it got worked up by a storm, the resort staff was out with their equipment the next day cleaning up the debris. We saw a school of wild dolphins jumping and playing close to shore - thought my young sons would jump out of their skin when they saw that! Nothing beats the Treasure Cay beach - we toured around in our golf cart to make sure we weren't missing any other beaches, but always came back to our beach!! My husband treated me to a massage on the beach - not sure how much it costs - but it was lovely! As for food, the grocery store was fully stocked and the prices either the same or just a tad more than home. Our food find was going to a local cook who parks her trailer at noon next to the medical building and serves wonderful local food - BBQ chicken, pork, fish, rice, beans, mac n cheese, different every day and $5 for a very large serving!! We ran there everyday to get our lunch as she is very popular and her food runs out quick! We found 25 sand-dollars at low tide, along with great shells and starfish (which we released). We miss our Treasure Cay, the ocean, the beach, the food, the people. Hope to go back soon - our boys don't stop talking about it....

We were in treasure cay at Christmas. It is a sleepy little tourist village with fishing and golf as its main forms of attraction. I don't do either but enjoyed the ambience nevertheless, Condo was clean and spacious and the people were friendly and informative.Getting there is a little nerve racking as the planes are tiny. Some fly into Treasure Cay(Bahama Air) and some to Marsh Harbour(ABACo Air).Marsh Harbour is 25 miles away so the taxi is 90.00 one way. We ended up renting a car for 70.00/day which was cheaper and you could go into marsh Harbour to shop. Snorkelling was awesome and the boat tour by Ozzie Halls was a deal.He takes you to 3 islands for 60.00--all day trip. But the beach-- best ive ever seen and I travel a lot.3 miles of white powdery sand and pristine clear water. The two bars and restaurant are owned by the same person. The restaurant is good but not cheap and the bars serve fast foods ie conk, hamburgers etc. I liked the laid back atmosphere and if you are looking for a swinging place to hang your hat, this aint it. I would go back now that I have an idea what to expect.

Located on the marina, this condo resort is a great place to stay and is reasonably priced. The staff are excellent, friendly and smiling and are always willing to help in any way they can. If there is a problem they are on top of it right away. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we loved having our bedroom upstairs in the loft by itself - very little noise considering we were there over Christmas and New Years (mind you we were in an end unit away from the bar!). The resort is getting a bit dated but everything was very clean (they come to clean every day). No bugs inside either unless of course you leave food out as in any tropical location. The units are slowly being worked on to update and improve. The views are so relaxing and picture perfect. The food at all the restaurants is very good and it is very handy to have the grocery and liquor store right there on site (plus cart rental, car rental, bank, police, etc.). There is no trip planner on site but you can get anywhere you want to go by taxi, boat or plane and a little research ahead of time will help you in the long run but someone there will give you information on where to go, etc. - all you have to do is ask. You look after yourself and plan for yourself and all the costs are very reasonable. Golf greens and course were in great shape especially after recuperating from Sandy. Snorkeling and diving provided by Brent and Sandy at Treasure Divers (located at the marina) was excellent - the small group makes it much nicer to go out and he took us to fantastic sites. Also if you want to totally relax, there was nothing like sitting on the white powder beach enjoying a good book and cold beer!

We went to Treasure Cay in November 2012, a couple weeks after hurricane Sandy and this is the "off-season". The cleanup after Sandy was still under way. But even though there was work going on, the employees were very nice, happy and helpful. The resort may be older, but there was a lot of painting and fixing to the empty units while we were there. The view from our unit onto the marina was picturesque. It was quiet, relaxing, and very enjoyable! Our 2B/2B unit was clean, neat, and there were no insects inside, even though there were plenty of ants, lizards and toads/frogs present outside. We saw a dolphin and sea turtle in the marina in front of our unit and plenty of sea-going sailboats and catamarans moored and docked near us. We rented a golf cart from Cash's Carts and it was a full 24 hours for the price, and a great cart. We toured all of Treasure Cay on our cart having a great time doing it. Employee, Anne Rolle, and Property Manager, Patrick Fetsch, were so friendly that they made us feel like family! They added so much to our enjoyment of this vacation. Oh, I almost forgot about the absolutely georgeous beach with it's white sugar-like sand and the beautiful shells. If you want rest, relaxation, and quiet, go to Treasure Cay in the off-season! A wonderful time we hope to repeat!

Room Tip: Facing the marina is superb.

The pictures of the resort are pretty accurate, and the comments of the other reveiwers are +/-. The resort is a little dated however there were plenty of people doing upgrades and maintenance while we were there for a four day last minute getaway. It was very quit and relaxing as well as breathtaking when it came to scenery and sunsets. The ground were well groomed and had nice vegitation all around.
There were, little black ants in the kitchen but they were only bad if you left out sugary food or drinks, or did not clean up after yourself. The property was not a 5 star resort, but neither were the prices. My wife and I stayed in a one bedroom two bath suite with a loft. The veiw was great and the people were friendly and happy to have us. A kind greeting and a smile from a visitor often sets the tone of response in smaller properties like these. Our taxi ride from the airport was $30.00 american each way, and while the taxi's are hit or miss when it comes to quality, we did arrive at our destination each and every time we took one. I think if your looking for nice relaxing retreat its a great place to unwind. Just make sure you dont go for relaxation during a big fishing tournament or the party season, because the place defiantly gets wound up during those times and events.

Room Tip: Dont stay in a single room if you can get a suite with a balcony, its worth the extra money!

Went one week after SANDY past by. Everyone on Island was working to get it all back up. Staff at Treasure Cay Reception were great. You have stay up on whats open and whats not. It was offseason and only a few guests there. Gof Cart Rental was a good value $40 for a 24 hour day!

Room Tip: Marina view is nice.

The beaches are beautiful, white and crystal. That's the only good part about it. The property is old. Rooms are small, smelly and have insects. U just can't leave your door open. We had a room facing Marina. It had a beautiful view and you can sometimes spot dolphin and sea turtle. Room was quite colourful and cute but tooo small. There is nothing much to do in the island. We wanted to go snorkeling and Scuba but the 'Treasure Divers' arranging it kept canceling it at the last minute and you don't have any other dive shop nearby as an alternate. So we wasted our 2 days. Finally we got a chance to go in sea on our last day. Island is small and there are not many places you can go to. Worst part was the food. Since we are vegetarians we had only one option of Veg Burger for lunch and one veg Pizza for dinner. We had the same pizza on all 3 days of our stay. For lunch we got some bread, butter and jam which was economical then eating bread burger outside. Staff was ok. All in all it was average trip and I would not go there again.
