Wonderful place

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 2, 2018via mobile
Looking for a good place to stay for some cycling in the Pyrenees? Stop right here as you won’t find anything better.
Just some of the reasons:
- Location, location, location. This is the ideal starting point for a bunch of legendary Pyrenees climbs. No need to take the car, you can easily fill 4 days with 3 climbs each day.
- Comfort. The rooms are large and clean, with enough storage space, and a nice bathroom.
- Food. If you’re afraid of not having enough after a hard day of cycling, think twice. Moreover, it’s absolutely delicious! Starter, main dish and dessert will blow you away.
- Atmosphere. Mark and Niamh manage to make you feel at home. As simple but as important as that.

Thanks so much for taking to time to review the lodge on Trip Advisor & Facebook Ruben. It was so nice to meet you guys and a pleasure to have your company round the lodge - great chat & laughter round the dinner table! You certainly deserved your 3 course meal with the amount of cols you packed into your day - chapeau! We're delighted you guys enjoyed the space at the lodge and look forward to welcoming you all again sometime in the future. All the best Niamh & Mark.

Excellent accommodation, food, hosts and easy access to some fantastic cycling - what more could you want!

Stayed here with a friend for 3 nights and we are very pleased we choose the Pyrenees Cycling Lodge.

We are two keen cyclists and it has everything thing you need - a hearty breakfast, a delicious and copious evening meal shared with other guests to swap stories with and a comfy room to retire to at the end of the day.

On top of this Niamh and Mark are great hosts and a wealth of information to make the most of your stay here.

We enjoyed it so much we have already booked for next year and will be bringing 3 extra friends.

Thanks so much for the review Jonathon. It was great to meet Gary & yourself and so glad that you enjoyed your stay at the lodge - there was certainly lots of laughter and chat at the table! Plus the weather was great - a perfect time of year to visit. Thanks for recruiting more folk for next year and look forward to welcoming you back again. All the best Niamh & Mark.

I don’t know what was harder. Crawling up Hautacam in 33 degree heat or dragging ourselves away from the lodge for the airport with the aroma of something utterly delicious wafting from the kitchen, knowing we won’t be there to tuck in tonight.

We spent three amazing days feasting on ‘beyond categorisation’ climbs like Luz Ardiden, Cauterets and the Col de Peyresourde fuelled by ‘beyond categorisation’ vegetable lasagne, chicken chausseur and pulled pork. All home-made by Niamh and Mark.

The perfect hosts, they thought of everything. Even La Vuelta highlights with dinner. We’ll definitely be returning to this comfortable, friendly haven with spectacular views of the ancient Abbey and mountains beyond. We have unfinished business with Superbagneres.

And the blackberry crumble.

Thanks for the great review Jeremy and Jonathon. It was a pleasure to meet and host you guys at the lodge and delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Hautacam's a beast in normal weather so hats for doing that on your last morning and with gravel!. Glad to hear you'll be back to tackle Superbagneres. Look forward to seeing you both again. All the best Niamh & Mark.

Superbly run cycling lodge in a great location. Mark and Niamh are great hosts and have a good knowledge of the local cycling routes. The breakfast and 3 course evening meal were fantastic and the honesty bar with a good selection of reasonably priced beers was a welcome sight after a long day on the bike. Perfect location for climbing the Aubisque, Tourmalet, Hautacam and quite a few others that we didn't have time to ride. We will definitely be back!

Thanks for the lovely review Dave. It was so nice to host you guys and glad that you enjoyed your stay with us! Nothing like a well deserved beer after a climb! The location is amazing for cycling so look forward to welcoming you back to tick off some more cols in the area. All the best Niamh & Mark.

We've stayed at this lodge 3 times in the past 4 years. For our needs, the lodge is prefect. The location is central to all the great Pyrenees climbs and the village of Saint-Savin is quiet, well located and charming. New owners Niamh and Mark continue the high standards of the previous owners, and offer a genuinely warm welcome to guests. Nothing is too much trouble. They are experienced and enthusiastic cyclists who give good advice about the local rides, and meeting other cyclists from around the world creates a cheerful and relaxing atmosphere at the lodge. It's not a 5-star hotel, but it's comfortable and has everything you need, including a washing machine! The breakfasts and dinners are great too. We look forward to our next visit to the Pyrenees; we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The Pyrenees Cycling Lodge is a great place to base yourself for a cycling vacation in the Pyrenees.
Mark and Niamh are wonderful hosts. They make it seem as if you’re staying with friends...friends that always have beer in the fridge and cook you the most wonderful breakfast and dinner. I need more friends like them!
So if you like to ride your bike, eat great food, and chat with other like minded people this is your place.
They helped make my trip to the Pyrenees even more memorable. Thanks Mark and Niamh!
