I don’t know what was harder. Crawling up Hautacam in 33 degree heat or dragging ourselves away from the lodge for the airport with the aroma of something utterly delicious wafting from the kitchen, knowing we won’t be there to tuck in tonight.
We spent three amazing days feasting on ‘beyond categorisation’ climbs like Luz Ardiden, Cauterets and the Col de Peyresourde fuelled by ‘beyond categorisation’ vegetable lasagne, chicken chausseur and pulled pork. All home-made by Niamh and Mark.
The perfect hosts, they thought of everything. Even La Vuelta highlights with dinner. We’ll definitely be returning to this comfortable, friendly haven with spectacular views of the ancient Abbey and mountains beyond. We have unfinished business with Superbagneres.
