First Impressions
The restaurant is located in a modernized house over- looking the river in the quiet riverside village of Montsoreau and the views overlooking the river Loire are great. The restaurant’s décor is very stylish and chic and full of vibrant colors. The staff spoke very little English but they were pleasant and welcoming and the chef and patron, Bertrand Deze has a great little restaurant in this picturesque village. We came across this restaurant whilst staying in the area and it was one of the better restaurants in the village.

The Food & Service

The style of food was typically French and regional and very good presentation and my wife and I chose the following.
START - Les langoustines en chaud – froid.
Déclinaison de canard, en maki à la mangue, petit bonbon et magret de canard fumé maison.
MAIN – Boneless Lamb loin with potatoes and seasonal vegitables.
Duck with seasonal vegitables and ratatoule
DESERT – Carré chocolat aux éclats de nougatines, caramel au beurre sale.
Verrine de fraise de la Vallée, émulsion de verveine citron

Overall

We enjoyed a pleasant evening at Diane de Meridor, we enjoyed our meal, the location of the restaurant with great views out of the window table and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was the best in the village.

Value for Money - 7/10. The meal cost £90.00 for 2 people with a ½ bottle of wine

We wanted a treat on our holiday and this michelin starred restaurant was only a stones through away from our holiday accommodation. Enough English is spoken to be understood and we had enough French to order what we wanted.
We went for the taster menu which had 6 courses with wine, our daughter had the same excluding the wine. This seemed good value in comparison to ordering off the menu.
There was a palate cleanser to start with some bubbles. Next was an assortment of duck pate and foie gras etc, very rich but beautifully presented. There was a fish course, pork, langoustine done three ways, a lovely cheese dish but by then we were struggling a bit, then we had a strawberry desert which we thought was it but just as we were ready to get the bill a chocolate pudding came to finish us off.
Service was great and the dishes were all explained - need to get better at french though!

We tried the degustation menu (6 courses) with wine match. Some courses were more to our liking than others but all were well prepared, interesting and well presented. Reasonably priced with professional service.

One of my personal top-10 restaurants, I would recommend while staying in France. Great local cuisine, good service. Very popular among local people-you need to be really early or book in advance.

Great location, table separation, very good menu, had an excellent fish. Gastronomique place right by the Loire, nice decor and ambient temperature.
