This was our first Eurocamp holiday and we will be back!!
The site was amazing, clean, lots to do and beautiful.
The weather was hot and the on-site facilities were very good.
Staff on the site, both Eurocamp and campsite staff, were extremely friendly and helpful and they couldn't do too much for you.
A wonderful first experience of Eurocamp!

My family have just returned from this campsite after a 2 week holiday with Canvas Holidays, we got the whole holiday inc ferry for under £300, so a total bargain. The price did make us worry about what it would be like, but after much research made the booking and are so glad we did.

The campsite is small and lovely, with more toilets than it needed for the size of the site, we were in the middle of 3 lines of pitches with a toilet/shower block either side! The showers etc were very clean and warm and large, just perfect!

The canvas tent we stayed in had seen better days in fairness, but did what it needed to do. We were hampered by bad weather for at least 5 days in between two spells of glorious weather, but never the less enjoyed the holiday.

The area itself is brilliant, just what I hoped France would be like, with little villages, bakeries everywhere and peace and quiet.

We ended up going to the South coast on a whim for a few days when the forecast was bad and I could not believe that in the 2000+ miles we drove in France we did not encounter a surly youth, a bad driver or a hoody anywhere! It was like being on a very different planet where everyone is nice, friendly and considerate!

As for Chateau des Marais, the kids loved the pools, we loved the pools and the quiet and relaxing atmosphere was just fantastic, birds constantly singing and sunlight filtering through the trees.

We would recommend the restaurant about a 5 min walk away on the banks of the Loire river as you cross the bridge - the best food I have ever had in France - was not cheap, but well worth the money - even the kids meals were gourmet quality!

Booked through Europcamp and had a 2 bedroom superior caravan.

The accommodation was spotless on our arrival, we arrived after the reps had gone but instructions for finding our accommodation were left and there was no problem.

We had no real reason to bother the reps but when we asked a couple of questions they couldn't have been more helpful - even on their night off!

The site was spotless and even though we had a shower we started to use the on site facilities because they were so good.

The pool was spotlessly clean and all the on-site workers did a fantastic job in keeping all the areas clean.

Our 10 year old daughter had great fun and this was a very relaxing holiday which we really enjoyed and would definitely book with Eurocamp again and would go back to this site.

There was (slow) free wifi connection on site, the shop was ok for basics but the SuperU supermarket in Mer was excellent - especially the fish counter.

All together a great holiday!

We stayed at the site for a week from 25 July - we had booked throught th site directly which saved about €300-400 euro in comparison with Keycamp etc - the mobile was excellent, clean and good facilities and well positioned on the site. The site itself was brillant for the kids - its wasnt a big site just nice size - the pool area was great kids loved it and as for the parks they utilised these to their full potential. The bar and resturant was nice - we even came third in the pub quiz and won free round of drinks (5) which was good. They even have a park beside the bar and resturant which keeps the younger one entertained. The takeaway was well priced and tasty it seemed to do a better run than the resturant. All in all nice site would definately recommend it to families with young to middle age children.

Our first time camping as a family (two children aged 3 and 7 yrs). We stayed in one of the Canvas Holidays tents and can honestly say it was the best family holiday we have had - no more going back to hotels for us. The tent was immaculately clean inside and had electric hookup, gas cooker, proper sprung camp beds. The only thing we would suggest is taking your own duvets / sleeping bags as the provided blankets did not always keep you warm as the nights can get chilly.

The only downsite was that the tent was situated in a shaded wood area and he pigeons were abundant - both in noise and droppings. Just beware when hanging out your towels to dry! :-)

Despite my wife's reservations about camping (shared showers / toilets / lack of facilities) we had a superb time and I would heartily recommend this site for young families. I say young families because, as one reviewer pointed out, there is no evening entertainment (disco etc) but that's the whole point - you get to spend some quality time with your children and entertain yourselves. Just don't expect to be hanging round the bar whilst yout children are kept entertained by others. What a refreshing change from late night music and boozy bars.

The facilities onsite are excellent and cleanliness is very good - the showers and toilets, of which there are plenty, are thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis through the day and I had no hesitation in using them. There are proper facilities for washing dishes and clothes and again this is kept spotless.

We used the pools almost every day, there is something for everyone and the lazy river and slides were great. The pool area was kept spotless at all times, regularly cleaned and water quality checked frequently.

There is a small shop onsite which sells the basics, including the daily bread and croissants, although there is a large supermarket (Super-U) a few miles up the road in Saint Loren Nouan which is worth a trip if you are stocking up. There is a takeaway onsite too which sells pizza, chicken, chips etc which is ideal if you get sick of cooking.

The whole site felt safe and well maintained and we were more than happy for our children to wander themselves. The site is well situated, being within easy travelling of some big attractions and also very close to Chateaux Chambord - which has to be one of the best examples. We also visited the Zoo Parc at Beauval which was expensive but worth it, the city of Tours and Blois, plus a handfull of nearby chateauxs.

In summary, a very highly recommended site if you want a quality family holiday which allows you some time with your children. Older children may be dissapointed by the lack of entertainment on an evening but I wouldn't let this put you off, try something different for once. There is a good playpark for the kids and adults can play tennis, badminton, frisbee etc. Hire one of the many pedal cars and have a laugh. Excellent facilities and spotlessy clean, we will definately be back.
