We took advantage of a special offer in order to spend our 40th wedding anniversary at Chateau Tilques.Room, aperitif, three course dinner and breakfast all for £129! Great value and such a pleasure to find warm, welcoming staff. Nice room with all that you expect in the bathroom for an establishment like this, and a great view over the parkland setting.
However (there always has to be a but), although I told them it was a romantic stay to celebrate an important landmark in our marriage, no effort was made to recognise it in any way whatsoever. And to be honest, although the quality of cooking was great, there was nothing on the menu that really got my gastric juices flowing (apart from foie gras) and three of the the four slices of somewhat chewy young wild boar returned home with us for the dogs! My wife's sole and macaroni was delicious (she actualy let me taste it as an anniversary gift). And I am not sure that the quality of the St Joseph wine matched the 35 euro price tag.
But, overall, a good experience and I would certainly go again ... avoiding the young boar dish and the St Joseph!

We bought a Travelzoo voucher for a 1 night stay in this hotel being only a half hour drive from Calais it's situation is perfect for our 1 night in France with our supermarket shop in the morning before we departed. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the rooms as we were staying in the main part of the Chateau and not the new block. the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The dinner in the evening was exceptional, fantastic food and what tremendous value for money on the offer we were using. breakfast was also plentiful and delicious. can't recommend this highly enough especially if you can find an offer...drinks are pricey!

Room Tip: Ask to be in the main part of the Chateau

An excellent touch of luxury. We benefited from a a deal, but even so, the reception was very good and we were starting a grand voyage with the caravan on the back and wanted to start in style. No problem. The receptionist just took it in her stride and said they had a big car park and we would have no trouble finding a spot.for a rig some 35 feet long. The meal was excellent and the restaurant, whilst a little quiet but hardly unexpected on a wet Thursday in October, was very welcoming and warm.
The room and all the accessories were very luxurious and, whilst we were not in the old part of the chateau, the modern annexe was very tastefully presented and furnished.
The swim before breakfast was a real treat and gave one a good excuse to tuck in to the wealth of different fare that was available. The selection of meats, English style cookie or French viennoiserie was excellent and anyone finding it difficult to find something to suit their palate must have serious dietary problems.
Will definitely look for another offer and go back for a top up.

Very nice place for a short stay. Good value, but only if getting a deal of some description. The headline room prices would have left us very disappointed.

Very good quality food in the restaurant for dinner. Nice atmosphere, but as we were last to dinner, it was clear that towards the end of the meal, we were keeping the staff from leaving with the breakfast tables being noisily set on the adjacent empty tables. Breakfast was a shade disappointing. If we'd have paid for breakfast separately (I think the price is 30 EUR !!!!!!!!!), it would have ruined the weekend.

The gardens with the wandering peacocks looked wonderful in the autumn sun.

The staff are friendly, with the exception of a couple in the restaurant who seemed a bit sniffy.

Wifi in the annex was hopeless, but OK in the main hotel once having mastered the rather complex log-on arrangements...

Very handy for a pit stop if coming through the eurotunnel before heading further into France or the low countries.

This was our 3rd visit here. We would go again once a special deal is available.

our rating of Very Good is too high, but Average would be too low.

Room Tip: The rooms are nicer in the main hotel, but we had the dog with us (30 EUR extra - there was a specia...

This hotel, owned by Najetti Group, has improved in the past 12 months. Staff try to be helpful, the restaurant (located in a separate building) is serving good food (not spectacular) and table service is attentive. The bedrooms in the Pavilion, where we slept, are in need of decoration but adequate. You can enjoy the wonderful grounds and a bonus of an indoor pool.If you need a hotel close to the Channel Tunnel then this is a good bet and not too pricy.

Room Tip: Check internet for best price.

My partner and I had just travelled to Paris and Senlis for the weekend and for her birthday I booked us for a night on our return journey to Calais. To my horror I had managed to book the previous night by accident but when turning up at the desk they realised the mistake and fantastically found a room for a us free of charge.

Putting this to one side the actual stay was ideal, very quaint surroundings with gardens within countryside, private, completely bi-lingual friendly approachable staff who supplied brilliant service without invading our privacy or time. The room was spacious and perfectly clean.

I've found it quite hard to fault our stay at all however the very smallest issue could be the restaurant being in a separate building although it is a matter of 5m or so away and stops sound affecting the rooms.

It is also well signposted once reaching the nearby village took us about 30min to get to Calais.

We managed to get a deal with travelzoo to stay there and found the prices typical of a 4* hotel.

Our two-night stay was with friends and we had both booked via Voyage Prive, which included upgrade to a Luxe room and breakfast. We had a lovely modern room on the ground floor in the pavillion, with sliding doors leading to a small patio looking onto the lawns and woods at the back of the chateau. We woke to see peahens strutting near the patio. The accommodation was warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Our friends, in their late 70s, were on the first floor of the chateau in a room overlooking the front entrance. This was one of the older rooms, with decor and furniture representing the era of the room and a huge bed. The bathroom had a shower over the bath but there was no curtain or screen and they found it very difficult to shower without flooding the bathroom. Also (we found out later) they had to carry their own case up the stairs.
The staff were courteous and pleasant with good English spoken. The food was good - we enjoyed the breakfasts and our one evening meal at the chateau was very tasty and beautifully presented, if a tad expensive. We tried out the heated indoor pool, which was quiet and pleasant (a tip here, you have to go though the changing cubicles to get to it - we stood at the locked door for ages before someone in the pool told us how to get in!). Our experience was definitely better than that of our friends - we loved it and will stay there again.

Room Tip: Rooms in the pavillion are more modern and generally larger.
