At first sight a rather limited and expensive menu - but value for money and then some. This is a food experience for those who love good food - foie gras, turbot, pigeon, all so imaginatively cooked and served. A restaurant with space, time and privacy.

My husband and I ordered from the set Menu's. I went for the 4 course, and he Pigged out on the 5 course [2 Mains, both Fish and Game]. It was all delightful, except that they got my Main course wrong, gave me Fish instead of Game, and when we pointed it out, just cut my husbands main course of Game, and served us half each, without apologising for it. We were very full anyway, so decided not to make any fuss. Other than this the service was very good. As the doors to the garden were open, there were a few fly's and insects buzzing around , which was not very pleasing.

A large, comfortable dining room and well-trained friendly staff. A well-balanced menu offering excellent value for money.

We knew from the website what prices to expect and we thought the food was excellent. An amuse-bouche started the meal and at the end, another little surprise was brought to the table. Staff were excellent - friendly and professional.

The restaurant is light and airy within a glass extension to the hotel so there are views of the garden unfortunately they put us on a table which didn't face the garden.

The food was good quality and good execution, we had the Menu Chateau Barive (fixed price 45 euro tasting menu) with two choices for starter and mains. The staff were very helpful and polite and made the evening go well. It was quite busy and had a nice atmosphere.

The decor needed the same attention to detail as the hotel maybe they need to get more professional workers as there were unfinished bits of wood etc around the sliding doors and windows.
