Sun, warmth, white sands and good whisky in good company.
Good service. Pleasant and helpful staff.
Islanders were extremely friendly.

Rather than eat in the restaurant we asked for a table in the hotel lounge bar, which is very nicely furnished and has a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The service by the young waitress was both friendly and efficient and the food was very good. We stayed very much at the "pub grub" end of the scale (simply because we fancied pie and fish and chips!) and both dishes were excellent.

And I think that this is one of the major pluses about the Castlebay Hotel - it caters for all moods and pockets, and whether you want a full three course fancy meal in the restaurant or a pie and chips in the bar, you can be sure of decent food and good service.

Excellent meal, venison steak was cooked to perfection and the veggie option was good. Best place on the island for an evening meal.

My family ate here for lunch and then an evening meal. Both were great. The fish and chips are well worth a try , the handcut chips are to die for. The waitresses offer a good service and nothing is too much trouble for them. My only recommendation would be to give the dining room a complete makeover. It is tired and old now. Doesn't spoil your meal at all though, thank you John and team.

Great location over the bay, lovely hotel bar and restaurant (would avoid the public bar at the hotel). However the food was really disappointing; BBQ beef steak turned out to be a beefburger, and the chicken strips (all four of them!) were breaded processed chicken mush, as for the rocket salad...wasn't rocket but lettuce, wasn't washed properly and had brown soggy stem ends that should have been trimmed off before going anywhere near a customers plate.
