Owner description: Spirit Mountain's Ecological Reserve and Organic Coffee Plantation is nestled high in the foot hills of the Cordillera Central Mountain Range. The Farm is located at at the far reaches of Angostura de Manabao, approximately 15 miles from Jarabacoa, 3 miles beyond Manabao. This is rugged land and unpaved roads, so if your not up for an adventure, you may not want to venture this far into the mountains of Hispaniola. We are an operating Coffee Plantation...not a tourist attraction. During a visit, you are likely to see typical operations related to producing some of the worlds best coffees. Harvesting season is from January through April, if you would like to try your hand at picking coffee. Learn about sustainable organic farming first hand, see the rarest endemic birds of Hispaniola or just kickback up at our rustic camp site, Camp Spirit Discovery. During the off season, our crews will be planting coffee, taking care of the shade canopy and performing general farm maintenance. We cater to those interested in more than just a vacation. The farm is open all day every day for self guided yours. The farm is on google maps, and you can check in with Rosa, the plantation manager's wife. Their house is directly in front of the farm on the right hand side of the road, about 100 meters from the farm entrance. if you let Rosa know a couple of hours in advance, she will prepare you a typical lunch, with some of our fresh roasted coffee! It is easy to spend an entire day trekking around the farm and only experience a small portion of what there is to see. Be prepared for a challenging drive up to the farm. Recent improvements to the 700 meter long access road makes the property "almost" 2 wheel drive accessible. If your interested in spending a night or more at Spirit Mountain, there are VERY rustic accommodations at Camp Spirit Discovery, located at an elevation of approximately 4,000 feet. It can get pretty chilly at these elevations, especially in the winter months, so bring plenty of warm clothes. There is a rustic kitchen complete with running water and a wood fired bread oven. Bring your own sleeping bags, but there are some mattresses in the two story open bungalows. If you would like more comfortable accommodations, there is a great little eco-lodge run by the community that has hot water and they will prepare you meals if you like. This is great way to get to know the locals! Come learn with us! You will leave changed.

We had a great time last spring visiting Estancia Natura. It was my 3rd time visiting Spirit Mountain, but this was the first mountain biking event that I had been to.

From the friendly, professional coaching of downhill-pro Grant Listock-Kay, to the actual riding of the downhill mountain bikes, to the community that surrounded the whole event - it was a wonderful day.

There were men, women, children - all of different skill levels and interests and Spirit Mountain has just about anything for anyone. Hiking, rappelling, downhill MTB, giant swings, comfortable yet rustic accommodation, bonfires, waterfalls, and organic coffee make for a killer time for everyone.

Whether you want to make a day trip or an overnight camping adventure, Spirit Mountain is a must-visit if coming to the D.R.

As part of the summer camp of the "Liceo Científico Dr. Miguel Lázaro" of the dominican province "Hermanas Mirabal" I organized a trip for 30 students (aged 13-15) to Jarabacoa and Spirit Mountain.
Many of them don't know their own country because it's very rare that they get the chance to travel. Therefore the kids were very excited and had so much fun just walking through the impresive landscape and to experience the diverse attractions that Spirit Mountain offers.
All started with a warm welcome of two german volunteers called Franzi and Lena who afterwards gave us an interesting tour through the organic coffee platations. Both of them did a great job while showing us around the unice place! It was a very informative and unforgetable trip for all of us. Unfortunetly there was no time left to see all parts of Spirit Mountain but we definitely want to com back!

All in all it's a must see for all kind of visitors that get the chance to experience Jarabacoa and its surrounding. We are already looking forward to come back soon!

Hey there... this a great place up in the mountains of Jarabacoa, to have an adventure. If you like outdoors sports this is the place for you. Here you can lay a camping tent on top of a hill, slide thru a Zip Line while you take in the view, go downhill at blazing speeds while overcoming trail obstacles, elevate your heart rate by ascending uphill on MTB, shoot yours friends with paintballs or go for a hike. + Good food.-

Great place to get out and explore the mountains of the Dominican Republic. Physically challenging, but unforgettable experience.
