“No medical help”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

After booking for a week stay in March, 2013 for a very affordable price (via snowjapan.com) we were eagerly looking forward to our stay. The breakfast was great, plenty on offer, however if you're on a tight budget don't eat there at night. Head to the main town instead. The rooms were spotless, quite big with plenty of storage. And if you're game enough for an onsen (I am female) I highly recommend it.
On the third day, unfortunately my boyfriend had a very nasty fall after catching the last gondola up. He was in severe pain and needing medical help for a very badly injured shoulder. There was a nasty bout of wind going on at the time and there was not a single person around on the slope, even after calling out. He managed to get to his feet and somehow snowboard down to the main entry where we went straight to the main desk for help. We both speak some basic Japanese, and to our horror the service staff politely said 'take a taxi to a hospital'. We asked where the ski patrol were and were told that the ski patrol knock off in the early afternoon. We were both horrified because the resort offers night skiing (on the smaller slopes) - but at your own risk! We've done more than 10 ski trips to various resorts around Japan, but this was the first time we've ever been on a slope without ski patrol nearby. It was a very worrisome experience!
Despite our medical scare, we probably won't be staying there again. The hotel is quite a way out of the main town and there's nothing much to do around in the giant spaceship-like hotel if you don't feel like hitting the slopes.

Everything is so so nice. Its room. Its shopping. Its hotspring. Its surrounding a breath taking view of the Ski hill.

We even learned to design a candle there at the workshop cabin in the forest nearby. The Yaki Milk is THE BEST DRINK I have ever taste!!!! I may even come just to drink Yaki Milk again!!

Location is just overlooking the Furano town and just under the ski slopes.

We even got the chance to learn to do a butter on our own!

We chose the New Furano Prince because we have been happy with the Hawaii Prince. This is different. Everyone is very friendly, but there is definitely a communication problem. English is very limited and during our visit, so were non-Japanese people. They have most things pretty sorted with pictures and stuff, but unusual requests will bring grief. Try "could we have a glass of water each, please?". The wooden cottage/artisan stores below the car park are delightful to see, especially at night. Adjacent are hot air balloon and Segway rides. The gondola ride to the mountain top departs right next door. There is a bar halfway down the hill, but travel into Furano requires a car, so is not really an option for a meal. The basement contains a Banquet Hall which does production number buffets for all meals. They offer a good choice of Japanese, Chinese and European.

Overall this hotel is pretty good. It is spacious with all the usual facilities, even with a convenience stores in the lobby and easy access to onsen. At the time of booking we were told that we cannot request for non-smoking rooms, the so-called smoking room we've gotten doesn't really have much smoking smell, perhaps we were lucky.

There are a few hidden gems within the perimeters of this hotel, one being the cafe and another one being the group of little crafty shops at the back of the hotel. The cafe offers fresh ground coffee for their guests and if you are lucky enough to sit at the bar, you'll have the chance to hand grind your own coffee beans for brewing.

The craft shops scattered at the back of the hotel among the woods made a real impression. We visited in the evening and with decoration lights along the pathway, the place seemed magical. Each craft shop has its own theme, being wood craft, leather craft, paper arts, and many others. Most of the things are unique and the craftsmanships are very good. I would consider this a must visit for anyone whom visits Furano.

The hotel location is on a ski slope, in the summer it is also one of the stop on the tourist bus ran by JR. Taxi from the Furano train station would be around 2000 yen.

The dining options in the hotel is only average, but the convenience store below has a lot of food and beverage choices to offer.

The hotel is good...above average in terms of their cleanliness, service etc but what i was very surprised of is the tiny tiny shops hidden at the back of the hotel...these shops are scattered around and create that very cozy christmasy feeling. They are local craftmens exhibiting their products. You can find kaleidoscope, paper ripping paintings ( dunno what the propper term is), leather accessories, windchimes, steelworks, woodcraft. If you have the chance... Do come here. They closed around 8-9 pm at night. Hope you enjoy your finds there

Nice hotel located up the hill. I think to get to the hotel a car is necessary. Location is not that idea if you don't have a car. Free parking provided on site.
To drive from hotel to the central Furano is only 10 mins.
Free wifi at hotel lobby but during my stay, the connection is almost non existence.
Room is clean & bed is comfortable. The bed is actually hard but I like hard bed.
TV channels limited, only 5 Japanese channels & 1 Chinese channel. No English channel.
In room amenities include basic toiletries, comb, razor, hair dryer, kettle & fridge.
Overall an average hotel.

The New Price hotel is a full service hotel nested in the Furano area.
The Hotel has nice large room. Some of the room have direct views of the Ski slope.
It provide all the usual facilities for every one for the family. There is a electronic games room, and pool for the kids. Nice outdoor shopping area for the older ones and romantic cafe in the woods.

Wifi is not free in the room , but it is free in the lobby area.
The shops in the hotel are expensive. You should get a better deal if you drive out to town which is not far away.

The downside for this hotel is that the Onsen is not free and parking is a distance away.

Room Tip: If you want to see the live action on the ski slope , try to get room 616. You will get direct view.
