“Modern and Nice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

The Natulux hotel had reception that spoke the best English out of all the hotels I have stayed in Hokkaido. The location is really convenient. I had dinner at a traditional BBQ restaurant - Yamadori, that is just 2 minutes on foot from the hotel. The parking is outdoor and just beside the hotel, which is very convenient. If you are not driving, the JR station is just opposite. The bed is modern and the pillows are nice. Not the hard, beady type that some other hotels provide. Plus the rooms had a nice view. :)

Excellent Location for both Travelers by Car or by Train. It is just opposite to the Train station. Less than 2 hours drive from Chitose Airport. Car park is free of charge but is limited to around 30 cars only which I occupied the last space at 10 p.m. when I came back from dinner.

Reception staff speaks good English and the check-in & check-out are very efficient. Rooms are clean and have a very nice scenery as all face the railway as well as the mountain far behind. Noise protection is very good as we could never hear the railway noise. Queen Size Bed which well fit my 3 years old son and both of us.

Worth to pay more for breakfast in advance when you book the hotel as it includes a full, delicious breakfast including the famous Melon & Milk of local area. It definitely make the day.

Room Tip: Book the Breakfast option if available! You won't regret!

If you're planning to visit Furano, I would say this is THE best hotel to stay in, not because it was extremely outstanding as compared to a typical 5 star established brand hotel, but because of the severe lack of competition in the area. For that reason alone, my overall rating of this hotel is average. Furano needs better hotels! (I say this as we were forced to stay elsewhere on the last night of our trip due to peak season meaning Natulux was fully booked).

Negatives: tiny rooms and bathrooms (typical of Japanese standards though) which caused a slight problem with our relatively large luggage! also agree with previous reviewers who complained with the lack of black out curtains - we were also awoken daily by natural sunlight at extremely early hours!

Positives: clean, extremely near to JR Furano Station, with the majority of front desk staff being able to converse in English. Free wifi in all rooms and in lobby area.

Room Tip: Unfortunately all rooms face the main road as it is a relatively small hotel, and all rooms have a w...

All the buildings in Asahikawa look very boring and not creative. A far cry from their believe in packaging on food for gifts. Natulux hotel though new looks like a factory building. Staff were all very pleasant and polite (I feel everyone in Asahikawa are very polite). Room is clean but they need to have a curtain to block out the lights (esp. in Summer where is bright by 430am). Shower is the best after all the stay we'd in our 6 day cycle trip in Asahikawa.
Japan is a culture that abides their rule without questioning. All hotel check in time is 3pm, we arrived wet and smelly at 1pm after our cycle, the front desk insist we can only check in at 3pm. But whenever you try to look pathetic, they check with their housekeeper to 'Hurry up" and give you the room asap.
Breakfast is ordinary (you can choose either Western or Japanese). When we ask for yoghurt, they insist our selection of Japanese breakfast doesn't come with yoghurt. When we said we'll pay for it, they still said we cannot have yoghurt though is served under Western breakfast. ;) There's a slim matured lady who speaks good English serving Breakfast came and immediately present us 2 yoghurt and said is free.
They've a "spa" which is just a tiny pool for you to dip. They also have a hot stone floor in spa but has to pay 1,050 Yen per use. I tried, is you lying on a floor which looks like a slab of 'marble' (which they call it hot stone?) and you're suppose to flip on your back and front every 5min. Not recommended.
Very short walk (2-5min.) walk to train station that can take you to Sapporo. Just behind the hotel is Fukuzushi resto, very nice sushi and sashimi, service is excellent but quite disappointment with their selection of sake.
Only 1 major disappointment with this hotel. Check out time is 10am. We asked to be checked out at 11am and they want to charge us 1K+ Yen for 1 hr. But told us we can check out at 1030am FOC! Guess follow by the books?

Room Tip: No gym or swimming pool. Furano town hardly has any shops to see. Hotel is great but only for 1 day...

Got the double room with breakfast & dinner it was really worth it.
The room was smallish but enough for use. The hotel allowed kids to share the bed with parents without an extra fee so that was good! But kids don't get extra towels, amenities or meals, that's ok cos they can share.
Why was the privacy blinds fitted outside the toilet window? I don't understand. How to ensure personal privacy then? But the bathroom was quite spacious though.
The dinner was a Japanese style hamburger beef steak and rice with onion soup and ice cream dessert. Yummy! Japanese style breakfast was good too. (The western was equally tasty!) enjoyed my stay there.

Location is perfect as everyone said. Rm is clean and modern. HOWEVER, I have no idea why they use a white window blind for the room which there is no other tall building blocking the sun / view of this hotel.

Sun rise at 4am in Furano in summer. Even we have the window blind down, our room is bright starting from 4.30am as the window blind blocks 30% of light outside ONLY! I wonder how many travellers like to wake up THAT early.

Room Tip: If there is any rm with light-proof blind?

I love this hotel!

Literally just opposite to the JR & bus station, less than 40 steps to reach the station from the hotel main door! With a number of dining options in walking distance from the hotel and a supermarket behind it. This hotel is in a very good location!

The check in and check out process is quick. The hotel staff are friendly and polite in general. One of the front desk staff took initiative to suggest where to visit after I check-in in the afternoon. And when I check out, the hotel offered a little packet of dry lavender as a gift (not compulsory though).

The room is spacious for couple (at least you'll have space to open wide your 26-inch suitcase), and the surprise part is the amenities, which are more than usual hotels. They provide lavender bath salt (though it is in deep purple colour which makes the bath a bit "artificial"), hair turban, handmade soap (on top of a bottle of hand & face soap), and bath sponge with other standard hotel amenities.

The bed is comfortable and large, and there is a sofa with a small table in the room. As far as my observation (at the floor which I stayed), all the rooms are facing the station side, the window in my room is facing the station, but it is not noisy at all. So the sound proof of the room is excellent. Plus I can look out from the window to check if the tour bus that I'll take has arrived or not!!

The downsides of the room are the bedside lamp in my room is out of order, and the air-con control is on the wall with the large bed stick with it. i.e. I have to climb over the bed in order to adjust the air-con, which is a little bit inconvenient (I personally don't like to climb on the bed before shower). One special point to note that there is a large window at the bathroom which can look through the bedroom (and TV). But the curtain can be only controlled from the bedroom... May be it's a good point for couples?!

There is a free spa on the ground floor. Though it is NOT a hot spring, I enjoyed a Japanese-style bath there on my first night stay.

The breakfast included is not bad as well. I tried both Japanese style and western style breakfast. Both kinds of breakfast offered a bottle of 3.5 Hokkaido milk, which tastes great! If you don't like milk they can also offer a can of Hokkaido carrot juice. Of course you can also enjoy tea, coffee or orange juice on top of the beverage offered above. Soups for both styles plus rice in Japanese style / bread in western style are refillable. However in general the whole breakfast is a bit cool (except the soups and the rice). So if you get used to eat hot food for breakfast, the cold ham and eggs in Western style and the grilled fish in Japanese style may disappoint you.

To conclude the location, the room and the services of this hotel are fantastic. I myself would definitely stay there again, and I highly recommend to you this lovely hotel.
