“Another good condition castle that is architectural dominant of the place”
Reviewed April 2, 2013

Many years ago Mukachevo was a capital of Karpat region. Now this is county centre but this castle can move us into times when all be different then now. May be this feeling forced someone to make music festivals there. If you like to wander in old buildings you will like this place.

“Probably the best atraction of this region”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I always considered Palanok to be the best preserved castle in the region, and in fact top 1 cultural herigate of the region, which I think is still true after my visit. Bargain entry fee (1€) gets you spectacular views.

“Nice castle”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

Nice place to visit if you are interested in medieval fortification or history of Austro-Hungary. For a casual tourist could be boring. Museum/exhibitions inside are pathetic. Guides vary from good to so-so. However since this region in general has little to offer for a western traveller I would recommend to visit the castle if you are around.

“A magnificient castle!”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

It is a castle on the top of a hill. If You visit the castle in a wet weather - be carefull - the road is very slippery. As You pass through the wooden bridge You will need to buy a ticket on the wright - the cashier's desk is not evident.
After buying a ticket You are able to walk in the castle. You can taste the wine and purchase it - but it is for extra money.

“The Unconquered Fortress”
Reviewed September 30, 2012

This incredible piece of history is well worth the visit. The extremely knowledgable guide showed us around this fascinating building. The defences, the massive well, the extensive views and the stories of this unconquered fortress make the visit even richer. Rumours state that insufficient funding may mean that this may soon become a private building so make the most of any opportunity you have to explore it.
