“Nice views”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

We spent the last 2 weeks in September at Osmine. The hotel was kept very clean but it could do with a refurbishment. The restaurant was nice and had a lovely view. There was quite a variety of food although the meat was a bit tough at times. The steps were a bit of a nightmare but after a few days you got used to them. The beach was nice and sunbeds were provided although they were uncomfortable. Towels were also provided for the beach which saved taking them with you. The room towels were not very soft so they could definitely do with getting some new ones. Overall the holiday was enjoyable but wouldn't go back there.

Room Tip: First floor was good, nice view and didn't have to use the lift.

Our first time in Croatia, we visited the 3rd October for one week and it was the last week of the season. Overall the hotel was very tired looking, we expected fantastic views and paid the extra supplement for a sea view, I was quite disappointed at the views, still very good but didn't get the wow factor when we entered our room maybe because of the massive trees that inhibited our view We were on the third floor bit other people had similar views but didn't pay the supplement.. Reception staff and cleaning staff were very friendly but the rest of the staff need some training in customer care. Cosmos rep seemed to be a bit absent from our trip and asked us to text if we needed her.
Food was like a school kitchen canteen, very bland and very tepid food, every day was the same, infact so cool they had a microwave in the dining room to reheat food, whether you went at the beginning of serving times or the end food was still cold.
We had a relaxing holiday but was ill informed that this was the last week, staff were not interested and entertainment was very poor, because of the bad weather I was completely bored and if it had not been for the lovely company we made in the hotel it would have been diabolical. Even walking to the village 30 mins away there was nothing there and the shop sold very little not even snacks to keep you going. There was a shuttle bus to Dubrovnik but again ill informed that the bus was only an 8 seat bus that had to be pre-booked. Trips were cancelled because of lack of numbers.
Tea and coffee where only served during the day in the pool bar and as it was raining majority of the holiday no one went to the bar, you couldn't get a hot drink during the day unless you walked down 120 stairs in the rain for a tepid cup of tea from the drinks machine.
Nice to get away from the rat race but after a while the rat race is more welcoming than the hotel osmine.

We recently spent first week of October at Osmine. Views from hotel were breathtaking, truly stunning location.
Hotel itself is dated, however, not as bad as I feared. It was always very clean in all areas, so no complaints there.
Found food to be good, always a good variety and all items were topped up regularly with fresh portions. Breakfast is usual eggs, sausage, pancakes, continental items etc. Lunches and dinners always had around 6 meat/fish/vegetarian options as well as rice dishes, vegetables, pasta etc. Always fresh fruit, desserts were bland. Coffee and tea selection good. Ate out at a couple of places in nearby Slano, found food to be tasty and reasonably priced.
Hotel bar was limited but suited us as beer and red wine were fine. Local spirits came in large measures.
Free bikes, pedalos and kayaks were great, we didn't queue and there was no time limit.
Hotel entertainment was limited and not particularly exciting but the older guests seemed to enjoy it a bit more.
There's a small shop where you can buy essentials in Slano, a 20 min walk or 10 minute cycle away.
Used hotel shuttle bus into Dubrovnik which was about £12 each return and was a great place to visit. Also done the Kurcula tour through Cosmos, it was ok but not anything to write home about. The wine tasting part was the highlight. Trip to Montenegro was cancelled last minute due to lack of numbers which was a pity.
As mentioned in other reviews, there are a lot of stairs but as we are young and fit it was not a problem for us, but not ideal for those with mobility problems.
Hotel was fairly quiet at this time of year as it was almost end of season, I think the size of the bars, pool, beach and restaurant could mean a much less enjoyable trip if you were to visit during the summer months when hotel is full.
As a break from the Scottish rain for a week we had a lovely, relaxing time with great views, good food and unlimited beer. Not for those who want an action packed week and nightlife.
If you're looking for somewhere to recharge outwith busy holiday season I would recommend Osmine.

This hotel was as expected built in the hillside, so as other reviews said the steps were the main downfall . As a older persom and a larger person l found by the end of the week it was a bit of a job .Now for the rest of the review the hotel isin lovely relaxing area lovely views. The food was very varied with plenty to choose from, in all meals rooms were very clean, and the staff were very plesant. We chose a bad week where it rained most days and there was abit of a flood on the Wednesday. Entertainment was quite poor, they did try but unfortunately it did not work.
We would go back if they put alift in.

I booked the Hotel Osmine for my Husbands Birthday, which was mentioned to the Hotel at the time of booking. We were given a room on the top floor in the Hotel, which was what I had requested, the views were amazing, and on his Birthday a bottle of wine was put in the room with a "Happy Birthday "note, which was a lovely surprise. The Hotel lived up to our expectations, lots of free bikes to use together with pedaloes and kayaks, which we never had to wait for.The food was good and always found something we liked. We already knew about the stairs but we didn't find them a problem, keeps you fit!!The staff were always pleasant and helpful. The village of Slano was very quiet ,a lovely ride on the bike.We booked a day trip to Montenagro which was well worth the early morning start. We booked our transfers to and from the UK with Dubrovnik travel and can really recommend them, payment was made on arrival at the Hotel and the return transfer was confirmed then and paid for at the airport. We met some great people there and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday ,we will return.

Room Tip: If you have difficulty walking its not for you, apart from the steps the slopes are quite steep. The...

We have just returned from the hotel Osmine in Slano Croatia, we will not be returning to the Osmine! The trip to Croatia by Monarch Airlines was excellent and to be highly recommended. However when we arrived at the Osmine we were presented with the key to a room in the annex building, even though we had paid a room supplement for a room with a sea view. When we challenged the reception person, his only response was " Hotel full, no upgrade available" we were shown to our room following our guide down a very steep slope, dragging our suitcases behind us, then we climbed two flights of stairs to a very dark corridor, our guide opened the door to our room, presenting us with a rabbit hutch bathroom which was so small I had to sit on the toilet to shave (please see the attached photo's). The room itself was clean and the maid kept it that way for the duration of our stay. When we opened the doors to our balcony my wife broke down in tears, at the view we were presented with, again see the photos. The view was the rear of the annex building and a cliff in front of the room.
There is a plus side to the Osmine the food is well cooked if not always as varied as it could be, the views are spectacular and the beach facilities very good, the all-inclusive does include the use of pedeloes, canoes etc. are free to use. The drinks are limited in variety but not in quantity, however if you don't mind drinking the locally produced alcohol it's ok. I would like to say that we may have been able to sort out the room issue if our Cosmos Rep was available; however during our ten days at the Osmine she was noticeable by her absence.
IF YOU GO TO THE OSMINE INSIST YOU STAY IN THE MAIN BUILDING. Friends we talked to in the main building were happy with the rooms, ours were in the ANNEX. To cut a long story short we will not be returning to the Osmine, however Slano & Croatia are definitely on my list of places to return to

Room Tip: Insist on a room in the main building.
