food was not particularly good. service okay. over priced for what you get. Management absent....not to say that they weren't there, but the manager/owner was drunk, I was told this is a regular occurrence.
over all disappointed.
the only good thing was the outdoor patio, pretty nice.

Took the family here, as there is not much choice in Minden. I researched the menu online first, and it sounded great, especially the burgers. When we arrived at 6pm, we were the only people in the restaurant!!(should have been a clue) The seats are cold metal with metal tables to match, very chilly in February. The food took FOREVER to come out and when it finally did everything was overcooked. The burgers tasted like hockey pucks, and the buns fell apart because they were stale!(and cold) The onion rings and chicken strips were dried out as well. The only good part was they did acknowledge our complaints and told us the cook might have "forgot" about the burgers when they were on. We were only charged for our drinks.

The Dominion Hotel has been in operation for something like 150yrs. It's a shame they didn't keep the original character but the inside is clean, if somewhat confusing - almost like they can't decide if they want to go "family eatery/pub" or formal eating establishment. The wait time for service is typically long - it's not unusual for them to be either overrun with patrons or else understaffed. In an area dependent on the elusive tourist trade, it's nearly impossible to predict staffing requirements so I can't fault them for that.

Last time i went - i'm a regular patron - i went with my youngest daughter, who's 4-1/2 and a total handful. The staff were, as always, uber-tolerant of her rambunctiousness and moodiness. She had a salad and i had chicken wings. Naturally, it ended up with me eating a bowl of crispy lettuce while she polished off my wings.

Sauce-wise, i like mine *hot* - on a scale of one to ten, Frank's Red Hot is about a 3 for me. the "Fart n Flames" is about a 5 - flavourful with a nice kick to it. the blue cheese dip is divine, as is the ranch dressing, both made on site.

I've been to both the Sunday Brunch and Saturday Dinner buffets and was not disappointed either time - a good variety and plentiful portions for a decent price.
