We stayed here the previous year and found this time that the motel was in constant upgrade mode .And the owners Paul and Dora will never rest until they have made a simple family motel into a showpiece of the area. The rooms are cosy typical motel rooms but with new thin screen tv and a cutting age coffee machine.Immaculate, comfortable and reasonable on the wallet.Beautiful grounds, easy walk to the lake and when we mention a great family motel,we're talking about a great family that you will encounter who will make you feel completely at home and will be as informal and friendly as the guest wants.Club house ,bbq, even exotic finches to admire. This is easygoing Haliburton at it's best.

Room Tip: The loft:for a family of 4 fantastic.Modern wood "cabin" update.I challenge anybody to...

We had a great two night stay during the long weekend. We stayed in the three twin bed room, with two young children and two adults as it was the only one available. It was a great stay. Nice breakfast spots nearby in Minden and Canarvan. A beach just a short walk down a sand road. The room was small, but we were visiting family nearby so did not miss the space. Great place. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

The Paul and Dora are great people, my grandsons and I stayed in their cottage which was very nice, I have stayed in their motel off and on over the years, it is "always" well kept, and Dora and Paul are super people to go along with it.

Room Tip: The cottage is great as are the loft and motel rooms.

We stayed for the week end to go atving. The owners had one request to respect their property and other guest.
After seeing the pristine condition of the grounds and the cleanliness of the rooms the request was easy. Not exactly a atv resort due to the nature of the sport but the host Paul and Dora went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. I would recommend the Highlands Motel to anyone looking to enjoy nature and for a relaxing time. Perfect for couples looking to atv the rail trails and bird watch(not so muddy). I would definitely stay there again.

Myself and four friends stayed in the loft. It was beautiful. The people are lovely, the area is gorgeous and the rooms are outstanding. Waking up the sunlight everyday and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend anyone stay, family or friends! Great place.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the Highlands Motel. THe room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We stayed in a motel room but look forward to staying in their beautiful family loft next visit. Beautiful property!

I stayed at the Highlands motel this week and it was the third time I've been there. I can recommend this motel without reservation. The owners are wonderful hosts--friendly, helpful, welcoming and accomodating. The room I stayed in was quiet, quaint and comfortable, but particularly, it was immaculate. There's a kettle in the room to make tea (with real mugs--not paper). The beds are comfortable. I do not have one negative thing to say. My whole experience was positive.

Room Tip: Rooms all face in one direction. There is a cottage for rent as part of the facility as well, but I...
