“5 Star Everything!”
Reviewed February 16, 2011

A big THANK YOU to Arend and Conny Meiling’s tremendous efforts and care taken in making our Valentine’s weekend a special one. We are two young thirty-something’s from Toronto with an appreciation for city comforts, backcountry adventure, good food and conversation. We got it all from Heather Lodge – and we are definitely planning another return trip very soon!

Heather Lodge’s aesthetics are 5 star! The property provides a “Canadiana lodge” feel nestled at the end of a lake with a million dollar view from the dining area. The lodge was thoughtfully decorated and was exquisitely maintained and manicured. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of our Lakeview studio, the common dining / sitting areas, and even the well shovelled parking lot / stairs (as we visited in the middle of the winter). It is hard to believe that this is a family-run operation with the professional care taken in maintaining the property.

Heather Lodge’s food & conversation are 5 star! Our dining experience was one of the highlights, with excellent selection and portions for breakfast and dinner. Conny is a masterful chef and care is taken to diversify the experience for consecutive nights. We enjoyed delicious NY steak & shrimp dinners, sweet chocolate cake desserts and outstanding country breakfasts! They are not LLBO licensed - so remember to BYOB to enjoy with your meals. Overlooking that small caveat, just sit back and enjoy the tremendously attentive wait service & story-telling from Arend and you will be laughing the night away.

Heather Lodge’s facilities are 5 star! There is free use of the private sauna / hot tub - where we relaxed for an hour and let all our worries melt into the background of the forest and lake view. For those looking for interaction with other guests, feel free to socialize and mingle in the common living room with leather armchairs, books, and board games; all warmed by the constant glow of the fireplace. For the adventurous, snow shoes can be borrowed for a tromp around the property and frozen lake. And finally, for those looking to escape into their room: fire logs can be purchased from the office; dvd players can be borrowed for movies; and the private balconies are always ready for some good sitting.

Heather Lodge’s personal touch is 5 star! Conny and Arend were outstanding in assisting us plan our trip including a day of cross-country skiing, a visit into Halliburton and booking our half-day dog-sled tour with Winterdance! Arend was also very helpful in navigating us to their location, after we mistakenly relied on Google maps directions. (Please call for directions! Google maps / Mapquest / GPS directions will take you through all sorts of wild country!) And to put a cherry on top, we were pleasantly surprised with a box of valentine’s chocolates waiting for us in our room to make an already outstanding experience – one to remember for a lifetime.

Thanks again – and we’ll be seeing you soon.

This breath-taking adventure was filled with fun, excitement, and pleasure.
From the food to the accommodating service, Conny and Arend were very hospitable.
With the frozen-over lake and the beautiful landscape it was very tranquil to say the least.
Heather Lodge has every thing you need and more thanx guys, I would recomend this place to all.

Just spent a lovely mid week break at Heather Lodge. Large, well designed and furnished rooms, friendly staff, and a great location. I can't compliment the Owners/Staff enough. Can't wait to return in the summer!

My friends and I have just returned home from a 3 night stay at Heather Lodge. It was our first visit and it will definitely not be our last. We decided we needed a little winter getaway and Heather Lodge was the perfect escape.
From the moment you arrive, you know you have come to the right place. Conny and Arend are the consumate hosts. The atmosphere is so relaxed and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. You feel like you are part of the family. The Lodge is Beautiful!!! Warm and inviting, perfect for warming up in front of the fireplace or playing a game of pool.
The rooms are beautifully decorated and very clean, with your own fireplace and stunning views of 12 Mile Lake. Its a great place to just relax or take part in the many activities the area has to offer. We choose a day of downhill skiing at Sir Sams as well as tobogganing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
On our next visit we hope to try a day of ice fishing. I can't wait to visit this stunning lodge in the summer and take a dip in the lake and try my hand at waterskiing.
Honestly if you're contemplating going to this lodge, just book it. You will not regret it!!!

The Lodge is run by a wonderful couple who made us feel like we were at a Bed and Breakfast with additional amenities. Room was beautiful and romantic with the very comfortable King Bed and in room fireplace with an amazing view of 12 Mile Lake!! Breakfast and Dinner were included and they were exceptional. Dining selections far exceeded our expectations with numerous choices and each dish was delicious and presented as any 5 star restaurant would serve! Service was great and warm. Will definitely return!!

The lodge is on 12 mile lake, the views are 'the north', the birds & deer come by for seeds & salt. A true 4 season lodge, geared to adults, peacefull, quiet & enjoyable.
Their website is very accurate. See http://www.heatherlodge.com/. The real deal.
