Simple, friendly, open every day.
Really handy for yachties like us in Grand Harbour Marina, not least as they sell a pretty good selection of grocery staples, including fresh milk. Oh, and cheese or pea pies (pastizzi).

Wonderful local cafe on the wafer front. Very nice owners. Great coffees and fresh Maltese pastries to die for. Very good value.

My wife and I had just completed a 'Road Train' sightseeing tour of Cospicua, Senglea, Kalkara and Vittoriosa, spotted this café across the road and thought this would be an ideal place for cold drinks as it was a hot day.
I had a Kinnie whilst my wife had a flavoured water and we sat outside to drink.
Service was pleasant, and it appears to be a busy place with the locals.
We were not hungry when we visited, but judging by some of the reviews we see here, we must make a point of returning on our next holiday to Malta to sample some of the food.

Best cafe in Birgu. Rita and Mario the owners are the nicest people so welcoming. Best coffee and partizziz in Birgu.

We stopped off here for a quick breakfast before going on the hop-on hop-off tour around the South route (the stop is just over the road from Birgi, although it's not signposted - it's by the archway with the bull's head). It's clearly the most popular place with the locals! Always packed, we managed to get a table outside after someone else left. We waited for several minutes for someone to serve us, then after watching what the locals do, my other half went in and ordered 2 coffees and 2 pastizzis, one pea and one cheese. And everything was cheap and really, really good! Very flavoursome pastizzis, go for the pea one for sure. I'd say you can't go to Birgu without going to Birgi.

And to anyone who is bothered by cigarette smoke, people have to smoke outside by law (from 2007). A good number of people in Malta smoke, so having someone smoking at a table outside makes me wonder why someone anti-smoking would sit at an outdoor table, when they have some adequate seating outside... Just saying :)
