On departing from the harbour, the tour guide told us loads of information about the local dolphins and whales. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about the animals. Within minutes off setting off we saw a glimpse of the first dolphins! The boats are small, with only ten people in each tour so as not to be too disturbing to the animals. Although it felt sad to sail away from the group of nine pilot whales we were in the middle of after a period of observation, it felt good to be part of a responsible tour which did not want to cause the animals any stress or long term disturbance. We still got great views of the animals in their natural environment. This would have been the highlight of my trip... had I not got incredibly sea sick! This was not the fault of the tour operator (I was the only one in the boat who experienced this, I am prone to travel sickness) and the tour guide was so helpful and well prepared in dealing with my sea sickness (she had a bag of helpful things like ginger tea, travel sickness pills, dry biscuits and also helped me by pushing on the right acupressure points). They also gave us chance to look at local rock formations from the sea.
