“Great location for a relaxing but active holiday!”
Reviewed March 24, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Excellent apartment, very well equipped and comfy seating and sleeping arrangements. Exactly as described in advert. Roof 'garden' furniture a bit tired and took a while to realise there were cushions but fabulous views down to the sea and a sun trap for much of the day. Lovely hillside location and pleasant walks down to a selection of beaches. We tried 2 restaurants in the village. Both very friendly and food good (not anything special but nice enough). Also ate at the beach... Less good and very busy. Supermarket over the road fine for breakfast and picnics. La gomera is fantastic if you like walking-loads of amazing well defined walks with huge variety of difficulty. We managed without a car but resorted to taxis a few times as the buses aren't very frequent. They're not timed for ferries either so we did some hanging around in bars for several hours waiting for the bus. Could have done with more local info on arrival and practical advice. Emma not there when we arrived and the couple of times we wanted to ask something she didn't seem to be around. We had her mob number though so could have rung if we really needed her. Would definitely go again, but for longer. A week not quite enough with all the travelling as it took a whole day to get there. Definitely stay here again too but you need to be fairly fit for all the steps in la calera!! Only neg comment... Apartment steps in need of repair, not great when its dark at the end of a long day travelling

“fabulous apartment with spectacular views from rooftop terrace”

Casa Emma must be one of the best holiday apartments we have stayed in, not having being to La Gomera before we decided to just stay for 5 nights what a bad decision we made as we did not want to leave this lovely place. As previous comments made the apartment has everything needed with some quite unique touches and the rooftop terrace made for some excellent pre dinner drinks where I actually cooked a couple of meals (very unusual for me as I like to eat out when on holiday) it was just such a relaxing place with marvellous sunsets. We also ate down in the town where we had some excellent meals (La Pescador up a side ally just off the front) and was only 15 - 20 mins walk away, the apartment is in such an excellent position for walking as a couple of the walks started literally metres away from the apartment where we hiked up the mountains to arura and caught the bus back down. We also visited the beach of playa del ingles obviously black sand but the waves were spectacular and a few nudists their but who kept themselves to themselves.

All in all if you fancy La Gomera give Casa Emma a try it is such a beautiful apartment with excellent facilities and Emma Is a very helpful host, we hope to visit you again.

“Ideal non-mass-produced accommodation for two”
Reviewed April 16, 2014 for a stay in April 2014

Located on a narrow street in beautiful hillside village within 10-15 mins walk of beaches and bustle, directly opposite a friendly local food shop, this flat has individual character rather than being part of a mass-tourism enterprise. Great roof terrace with views down to the sea and up the valley - wonderful for breakfast or moonlit beers. Inside, clean and comfortable though with lesser views. The plumbing was a bit whiffy, but I suspect that's not uncommon.

I travelled with my two kids, which worked using a mattress on the living room floor, but basically this is accommodation for a single person or a couple. The corner sofa is not a sofa-bed, so not particularly comfortable for sleeping, and only a single. (Unless we failed to understand.)

Valle Gran Rey has at least one reliably-swimmable beach, sheltered from the often strong waves, and a vibrant, slightly hippy-inspired laid-back scene. Great!

Management Response
May 23, 2014
Thankyou for your lovely review.
I'm so glad you had a nice time.
I would just like to point out that the sofa does pull out into a bed. I should have demonstrated, but as you may remember you were in quite a hurry to get out & about. I do agree with you however that the apartment is more suited to couples.
Also I would like to apologise for the "whiffy" plumbing.
This is not usual but can occur if it's very windy & the water gets knocked out of a u bend.
I shall be investigating!

“Couldn't have wished for better”
Reviewed February 28, 2014 for a stay in February 2014

What a wonderful 3 weeks we have just spent in Cassa Emma. A lovely apartment with everything you need and added bonus of the roof terrace with fabulous views of the sea. Emma couldn't have done enough and we will certainly recommend the apartment. We went on one of Tilmahs tours and it was a great experience going to the National Park and smaller villages wouldn't fancy driving all those windy roads. Real flavour of the old part in La Calera and the supermarket is right on the doorstep and the Mirador restaurant only minutes away both having friendly folk who run them. So you can have the choice of peace and quiet or walk down (steep coming back but manageable) to the town. Not a place to go if you want discos etc. Ideal for walking and exploring or just relaxing. We will be back. Thanks again Emma.

“Well equipped apartment with exotic bedroom”
Reviewed February 6, 2013 for a stay in January 2013

This comfortable apartment is in a great (possibly the best) area of Valle Gran Rey. The steps up to it are steep, to say the least, but the climb is worth it as the front door opens onto a spacious living and kitchen area. The kitchen part is modern, functional and well equipped with toaster, oven, 4 ring hob, kettle and a range of pots, pans and utensils that made self catering easy and straightforward. In my experience apartments equipped to this standard are rare in this area, although there was no microwave. The rest of the living room was well furnished with a large kitchen table for dining, a smaller table by the window and a corner settee. It is very light and airy. The shower room is small but perfectly adequate and nicely equipped and decorated.

The bedroom was beautifully done with a large brass bed and interesting lights and decorations. There are loads of wardrobe space and place to store your luggage. The whole apartment feels very comfortable. It had a very exotic feel to it thanks to the use of unusual fittings and curtains.

There is a roof terrace with loungers and great views over other roof tops to the sea. There is a laundry room up there which is an absolute boon if you're on a walking holiday and needing fresh clothes every day.

It claims to sleep 4 and I suppose the settee converts to a bed - didn't try that so can't comment. The living area is big enough for 4 people but there could be an issue with wardrobe space and luggage storage if 4 stayed. I suppose cases could be stored up in the laundry room which is certainly big enough.

My only criticism is that, despite there being two umbrellas on the roof terrace, there were no bases so we couldn't use them. Apart from that it was great.
