Posada La Barca
Reviewed March 31, 2009

As there were so few reviews I was a bit apprehensive about a 9 nite stay at Posada La Barca. From planning via the internet to our last nite...everything was perfect. We concluded that we had the best view in the area and our proximity to all San Agustinillo had to offer was prime. We loved the snorkelling by the rocks out front, swimming the waves, and surfing lessons from David, down the beach. The accomodations were simple but more than sufficient. The fridge, hotplate, coffepot, and dishes allowed us to shop the markets and prepare many of our own meals. We were on the top floor and the evenings were quite warm which was not problematic for our crowd but might be for someone else...then I would suggest one of the air conditioned rooms. We did not get to meet Jose but Enrique met our every need. Can't say enough about this peaceful place.

We stayed here for two weeks and really loved the place and the owner Jose. We were lucky enough to meet Jose (a Texan of Mexican descent) who was completing the final touches to the new part of the hotel, before heading back to Texas.

We stayed in the orginal, much smaller part of the hotel and actually preferred it. Mainly because there was air con, which was definitley needed at night and because we had our own hammock. No doubt these features will be added to the newer rooms with time.

The Hotels location is great for those that want to get away from the busier part of the beach. The swimming on this part of San Agustillo is definitely safer and more private. Often we had the beach entirely to ourselves except for some friendly fishermen. We also enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves and having a good sized fridge was invaluable for the salads and cold beers.

No down sides really, this is a great place to stay!
