One of best 4 star hotels I have been to. Excellent staff and service, well maintained. Rooms are very well kept. Good selection in the buffets. So close to the national park. Ideal place to locate yourself and explore the wildlife.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

The hotel looks nice and we were welcomed with drinks etc. The room was also nice until we discovered the extremely loud aircondition, the loudest I have ever heard. Also there were more and more bugs inside. Large ants all over the bathroom, on the toilet seat etc. Also bugs on the floor in the room by the bed (although we always kept doors and windows closed, and the room was on second floor). These two factors made the stay a bit uncomfortable. The safari was good, and the restaurant was also ok.

This fairly new facility is clearly designed to cater for those that want to visit the Uda Walawe national Park. Although not located in the park or next to the entrance, it is a relatively short drive to get there (10-15 minutes). Although you do not get the feeling that you are in a game park lodge, this is a very comfortable and luxurious hotel. It could also cater for business travellers or for resort swimming pool addicts. When we stayed there this summer, the Sri Lanka national cricket team stayed there. It was very busy and lively. The staff is superb, the food (mostly buffets) is amazing and good value for money. We found the rooms very nicely furbished. The overall facilities are beautiful and cater nicely for families with kids : there is ping-pong, pool table, nice swimming pool and enough space in the facility to make it a great base to go and see the park and the elephant orphanage (or transit home as they call it). Strongtly recommended for those that visit Uda Walawe national Park, which is also a place that I would recommend. 100% chance of seeing herds of wild elephants and many other wild animals during a jeep safari. Great guides/trackers available....

Room Tip: Try to stay in a roomon the top floor with views over the pool

THis is a nice place that is fairly new. THe room was good, although we got some nicer ones in other hotels. WHat really made our experience special here was the staff who were perfect from the beginning to the end; welcoming, anticipating all our needs and very warm. THanks a lot!

As most things in Sri Lanka, this hotel and it's staff do not disappoint. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food very good.
The hotel is ideally placed to access the national park.
We were told that the S.A. Cricket team stay at the hotel when they are touring, unfortunately, we were there a few days too early for their arrival.

We loved basing ourselves at Grand Udawalawe Safari Resort while we adventured in the national park. Rooms were modern, large, clean and comfortable and the whole hotel is well designed to fit in with the environs. The food was really lovely and great value - the chef treated us with extra lamb cutlets one night at a price much lower than you'd find in Australia.

The service was wonderful and the staff were friendly and courteous. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the cricket with them in the bar after dinner one night. Set realistic service expectations - the staff are from a local area in Sri Lanka and tourism is on the rise. The team's sincerity & friendliness and efforts to make your stay superb, outweigh any hiccups.

The pools were large & fabulous and, between us, our boys would have preferred to hang there than to get up to see elephants in the wild @ 6am.... I was more than happy to get up to see these magnificent creatures in the wild.

Room Tip: Rooms were very well sized, clean and comfortable. Our family of four each had their own bed - a lar...

Have just spent 2 nights here and I have mix views about this hotel.
Good points - The rooms are spacious, modern, clean & comfortable. The pool and surrounding grounds are lovely, a really nice place to relax. The location is good only about 10 minutes from Udawalawe National Park.
Bad points - The staff have poor customer care skills. The restaurant, where do I start, food quality very poor and limited choice for vegetarians. The only meal choice really available was the buffet but this was priced differently on both our nights, even though it looked exactly the same? The staff were just standing around ignoring the guests, plates not cleared away. For breakfast my husband and I both ordered fried eggs, my husbands arrived after 10 minutes, mine never arrived even though 3 chefs were supposedly cooking eggs to order. The tea and coffee were both served cold, then took ages for hot ones to arrive. Overall not great and if we could have eaten else where we would have.
We booked our Safari through the hotel even though they didn't know much information about the Safari's i.e. best time to go, prices on different jeeps, entrance price. Also when we asked about prices for transport to our next destination (Ella) they quoted quiet alot above the going rate! We chose to ring our next hotel who sent a driver for us for a much more reasonable price.
Overall this hotel is ok, but not sure I would want to return.

Room Tip: All rooms seemed the same, though top floor rooms have high beamed ceilings given more character to...
