Beware the adventurous local fauna – we booked into a beach chalet and were welcomed by both cockroaches and frogs. Given the setting, these invasions were quite understandable really. Upon discovery we asked to move and they put us in a beautiful, creature free jungle chalet. The staff were friendly, the food great and the pool area beautiful. We were woken up in the morning by a troop of monkeys playing on our roof and in front of our chalet, which was a joy.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. The local fauna being inhabitants of the surrounding wildlife habitat can sometimes ponder in to a guest room if left open. We are glad that you appreciated every aspect of the wildlife and the varied species of animals, birds and other creatures found in the vicinity. We are glad that you enjoyed your accommodation in the jungle chalet which represents rustic luxury with a concept of an African game lodge. While thanking you for staying with us we do hope you would return back to the Wild!

Love the location of this hotel. The food, service and yes the warm and friendly staff made it a memorable stay. We went there during Vesak and yes the beautiful Vesak lanterns decorating the pool area was fantastic. Clean and comfy room and loved the canopy beds and of course the monkeys and the boars roaming around made it a truly wild experience.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the sea are fantastic. In case one is traveling with an elderly person its best to get...

Two nights at the hotel as part of our tour of Sri Lanka, after a fairly long drive from the last hotel, it was great to be welcomed with a smile, a cold towel and a fresh juice cocktail. Bags taken to hotel room, we arrived at dusk, so we saw the beauty of where we were staying, paradise. Our jungle room was well appointed with bed including mosquito net, the room is tastefully done to the sourroundings, and we passed a wild boar as we were taken to the the room, the restaurant and bar were again blended into the sourroundings and the service and food were excellent. The observation deck is great to look at the stars or the lake during the day. An elephant had walked through the hotel while we had been out on safari, both safaris were excellent ! If you want to be looked after while experiencing a truly wild feel, this hotel is for you !

Thank you for your detailed feedback regarding your stay with us. We are thrilled to know that you had an enjoyable stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala. The observation deck which has a 360 degree view is one of the best locations to be as one can witness the sea, water hole, thick jungle and even wild life in the distant vicinity. As the National park is 15 minutes from the hotel the location makes it a favorite to all guests staying over. We certainly do hope to have you with us again in the near future.

This hotel is over subscribed and has the feel of a large tourist resort. Safaris are overpriced through the hotel - don't bother with the night safari. The only thing we saw was a bird and the eyes of a crocodile. They don't regularly see other animals at night. Comfortable enough if you're looking for somewhere to stay for a night to see the leopards, however, I wouldn't stay here longer.

It was heaven to stay in Cinnamon Yala on my inspection tour with Austrian tour operators in May 2013. What a great hotel!!! Well refurbished to taste. Excellent location since it is only stones throw distance from Yala approach road, you need not travel to Yala see the big 3, the Elephant (Tuskers too) Leopard, Buffalo, can be seen on the outskirts of the property. A Mugger crocodile welcomes you upon arrival, as this resident crocs' home is the lake which landscapes this wonderful property.

Except for the warning for not to walk around the property without a escort from the hotel after last light, this is an ideal place for wildlife enthusiast and adventure lovers to spend couple nights.

The food, staff and the overall service was underestimated and over delivered.

Keep it up Team KHMSL.....

Room Tip: Expect the unexpected, if you love the wild and the creepy crawlies (Not found in rooms) this is the...

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. Being situated in the buffer zone without fenced or a perimeter makes the hotel a living within the wild. Additionally, even for the bird lovers this is a unique location as one spots nearly 40-50 varieties within the premises. The escort which we do provide is for safety reasons as even elephants roam around free during light and dusk. While thanking you for your feedback, we eagerly look forward to your next visit.

My husband booked a night for us here as we are currently traveling through Sri Lanka and his plan was for us to arrive lunchtime, checkin and go for an afternoon safari and return in the evening for a celebration last night.

Having booked it on the go, we simply looked up "cinnamon wild" on google maps, downloaded the booking confirmation email and were on our way. When we arrive at the location shown on maps, there is nothing resembling a resort there. When we look at the confirmation email for an address, Cinnamon Wild has given only their PO box address for hotel address!!! It gets worse, we dial the contact number listed and it goes to voicemail directly!!! So here we are with no access to Internet or anything that will tell us where this resort is!! Long story short, 2 drivers and 4hrs later, we finally find the place, more than 25kms away from where maps depicted their location was!

So we arrived, exhausted and told them of our experience and showed them the booking voucher that listed a PO box address as hotel location and the phone number that went to voicemail. They cheerfully laughed and said "oh that's a Colombo office number and its closed already." While the reception staff were friendly and tried to alleviate our exhaustion by asking us to sit while they processed our check-in, they didn't exactly respond to the matter of their hotel not giving its location address accurately. One of the receptionist tells us upon presenting us with our room key that the manager was offering us a "discount" if we would like to stay another night due to our late arrival. The discount was 50% more than the price we paid anyway. What a joke!! Furthermore, the manager being alerted to our situation, felt the need to offer us the discount through the receptionist but didn't see it fit to come out and talk to us and maybe even apologise for the mess up!!

The last straw was when we arrived at our room, the receptionist hurried in behind us and told us that our booking did not include breakfast and that it would be $50 additional. We had booked the room on Agoda (via trip advisor app) - for the same price there was the option of "jungle chalet room only" reflecting a 50% discount, and a "jungle chalet" reflecting 76% discount and seeing as both listings had the same features one could only assume, as per numerous other bookings we've made through Agoda, that the non room-only option included breakfast. Even though we showed her the screen captures we had made when making the booking and explained the above, not to mention the already disgruntled state we were in at having booked a hotel that saw it fit to provide a PO box address and contact number that went nowhere afterhours, they didn't seem to see anything wrong in hustling us to pay an exorbitant fee for breakfast.

My husband asked to speak to the manager and explained the situation of the incorrect details on the booking voucher along with the matter of the breakfast inclusion. The floor manager was having his dinner so my husband was told to come back later. When we were having our dinner though, the manager has no qualms interrupting it. The manager tried to pin it all on agoda, but my husband explained that we have booked with them on numerous occasions around the world and never had such an issue, and that it is the responsibility of the hotel to provide accurate location and contact information to their booking vendors!! And to monitor the listings of their rooms and change the titles of their listings and specify if breakfast isn't included in the option that would otherwise reflect that it was!! The floor manager said he would speak to the general manager and respond in the morning.

In the morning, when we walked past reception to get to breakfast, the same floor manager was present but he made no move to approach us. Instead it was the receptionist who came out to greet us and asked if we would be staying another night. My husband informed her he was waiting on a response from the gm to make a decision on that and she said, "yes my manager tells me that after he spoke to the general manager he can do just 5% (dollar value of $2.50) more discount for second night." Which was in no way a deal again considering booking it online was still going to be much cheaper!! Completely ridiculous and preposterous that he considered that a rectification to the problem, made worse by the fact he had not even seen it fit to inform us himself.

In that instant, even before breakfast, we made the decision to leave the place immediately. Despite the tasteful rooms and smiley chirpy staff, it comes down to a matter of principles and this place is just badly run from the management down!!

Food wise - for the price they charge the food is only average and drinks are overpriced and that includes juices which are incredibly watery in comparison to similar price range hotels across Sri Lanka. Standard of food and beverage at Chaaya Tranz for example far surpasses.

If you want to book it I suggest you check for the address and note it down before you go and DO NOT rely on your booking confirmation email. Also don't expect any apology or accountability for their mistakes!

Thank you for your feedback on Trip Advisor. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused as a result of the incorrect contact details of the Hotel being mentioned on the Agoda Hotel voucher. We have contacted agoda and made the changes immediately. We will ensure that this sort of predicament will not be faced by any guests in the near future. Thank you very much for raising your concerns and for your detailed feedback which is invaluable to us. We certainly hope you would visit us again for a holiday that we guarantee, will be memorable.
