The location of this small hotel is really great, the beach there looks gorgeous. Huts are nice, bit nomadic, and named after animals, which is cute. But: the resort claims to be eco-friendly - so there is no air-conditioning in the huts - instead are crammed with 3 fans and many electronic devices which I find nor eco-freindly neither necessary in such a simple place. Huts are also quite close to each other, and some huts have 2 rooms, not 1. We had one like this and could hear everything what happened in the neighbouring room. Bathroom is uncomfortable, small things missing from it or placed wrong (for example, towels outside, not in the bathroom, and no hangers in).
Food quality is bad, we tried a la carte lunch, which was acceptable, but the buffet dinner was very sad (meat was barely eatable for me), and at breakfast they had no choice: You could choose eggs or unprepared toast bread, some fruits, but nothing else.
I think they hired local people to do the service, but they got no training - our waiter at dinner couldn't undertand that we wanted a bottle of wine instead of a glass, he also had to consult with the manager about it. And at payment 3 people tryed to draw off my credit card, but couldn't manage it.
I think it not that I am spoiled a lot (though I surely am), I have been at many places for example in East Africa, which are simple and lodge-like like this resort, which are much better and no complaint. I think here the concept would be good, but the implementation is mistaken. Huts, food and service need to be improved.

I stayed at this hotel at the end of August 2012, in the Rabbit wooden house. Keep in mind that this is not a luxury hotel, it is decent, clean and most people use it as a stop-over for trips to sights nearby.

Location: Good for visiting Yale or surrounding sights. So I can't recommend it as a location for a full vacation.

Restaurant: The food is good, ok, but pretty basic. A pretty limited selection. The hotel doesn't have too many permanent guests. Most of the people coming here are people on tours, so one day there may be 2 people and next day 40.

Personnel: nice persons, willing to answer your questions about anything, if you care to ask.

Rooms: pretty basic: a bed, a table, a bathroom, a tv and a little minibar.

Cleaning: definitely clean. They strive to do their best.

TV selection: out of those 60-80 channels, only 5 actually work (in case you feel like turning on the TV)

Why would you choose this hotel? If you take the exit to the beach you will discover a wonderful virgin beach, simply astonishing and quite quiet if it's one of those days when only a few people are in the hotel.

Kirinda is a remote spot and we were rather depressed when we got there as the town was fairly basic. We perservered and eventually found the Karinda Beach resort which had been recommended to us by a fellow traveller. We were made extremely welcome when we arrived and fell in love with the place more or less straight away. The cabin accommodation is built traditional style so is fairly basic but is extremely nicely set out inside with TV, music player and kettle. We had the best beds in Sri Lanka and the nicest towels. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate our wishes and they were very flexible about food and gave us choices for the cooked to order evening meal.

The hotel is in a remote location and has a beautiful beach with large rocks that can be climbed. The sea is very rough and there are only a few places to swim but the beauty makes up for it. There is a river that meets the sea nearby and the locals swim in the river.

We particularly liked the remoteness, the nice beach setting and the wild sea. Really good walks nearby, particularly if you wade across the river. No one at all on the beach it's a little paradise

We were able to see Turtles in the sea but none came to the beach.

The English owner has a passion for nature and works with the locals on conservation projects.

There are no deckchairs on the beach just wonderful scenery.

This place is highly recommended for those that want to get away from the hussle and bussle of the tourist areas.

We will definitely go back and we wish the owner, the manager and the staff the very best of luck as this hotel is new for 2012.

We just hope that the prices stay reasonable.

If you love nature, then spend a few days in this wonderful wild paradise! We loved it,bungalows are simple but very clean and confortable surrounded by lovely vegetation and facing an absolutely stunning beach with big rocks,There is a nice breeze blowing, you never suffer the heat. The sea is often rough but you can always find a little cove where to swim. The sand becomes somewhere dark red and at sunset the colours are beautiful. The staff at the resort is so gentle, kind, helpful, we felt at home there.A swimming pool will soon be built on the rocks. The food is delicious, the chef is such a nice, sweet man,we enjoyed to discuss with him what we wanted to eat,his baked fish in banana leaf is unforgattable!! You can have a nice walk on the beach and reach Kirinda Maha Vihara and visit the temple with stories of Vihara Maha Devi and enjoy the view of the wild coastline

Stayed here as part of an organised Exodus tour.
The wooden huts are in excellent condition, a good size, very clean with extremely comfortable beds and the bathrooms are good with lovely showers.
Great restaurant and good selection of food both in terms of buffet and a la carte menus.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
Location was a little spot of paradise since you could walk from the resort onto an unspoiled beach.
Kirinda was great option to stay instead of Tissa for Yala National Park!

We went there two weeks back. The rooms and toilets are OK. Food wasn't that great and there weren't many varieties which you cant expect for that price. The sea is quiet rough but that what makes it fun lol. As there are many big rocks around it is a bit safer.
The service in the restaurant wasn't that good either. They were not trained properly.

Room Tip: There are rooms that have four beds. They are good value for money.

Bungalows are great and clean. Location is excellent. Staff very friendly. However, avoid the restaurant, it is VERY expensive and not good at all. Our sea food rice was cold, small portion, expensive and not good. We complained about it, they decided to charge only one, which was a nice moove from their part. Avoid the restaurant, and this place is great.
