We stayed at Tree Tops Jungle Lodge for 2 nights with my girlfriend at the beginning of september 2013, so, just a few days ago...and the first thing I wanted to do when I was back in Belgium was to write these few lines...coz, this is a truly unique experience one should do, if you look for something you will remember for the years to come.

Lars, Kamal and the rest of the team treated us like we were kings, the minute we put a foot on this wild ground. We were looking for an isolated setting, in the nature...and you can't really get closer to this with Tree Tops. The tent was simple but yet very comfy, with a private bathroom + shower.

No electricity, and to be honest, between the birdwatching sessions (Kamal is the expert here), the wild elephants that had a quick meal 20 meters away from our tent or the long walks in the jungle, we didn't really miss it.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner were all excellent, and the setting truly romantic, with nothing but the birds singing along.

A must do if you're going in Sri Lanka, and if you're looking for something different. If you're more fond of watching TV Series on your ipad next to the swimming pool, this might not be your type of vacation ;)

Congrats to the entire team, their passion for nature is undeniable, and one could feel it.
Thx.

Thank you for an exciting, peaceful and relaxing 3 days. Everything was wonderful and amazing! The surroundings, the camp tent rooms, the food and Kamal and the staff were fantastic and the camp well managed.

Tented accommodation comfy and clean with lovely bathroom in the tent. Candlelit dinners under the moon, Fresh tasty curries and an astonishingly nicely matching Gewurtztraminer white wine. Perfect for the location. Low key wine and dine in style! Sandung, the steward, and other staff guys attentive, helpful and charming. Totally compensating for their basic knowledge of English.

The camp is managed by a local staff team, creating an authentic non commercial atmosphere plus nature tourism generated income in the local community. A rewarding win-win concept for guests and staff and community and the environment.

Beautiful rooms combined with nice, wild, rustic jungle ambiance plus exhilarating elephant sightings at the camp. Enjoying, walking, unwinding in the wild, lovely forest landscape. What a place. A highlight of our trip. Continue the good work - we hope to come back soon.

So much better to be on foot in the bush than banging around in the back of a jeep! The 'camp' is very luxurious - there were more staff than customers when we were there - the food is amazing and the accommodation spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Early morning and late afternoon walks with the guides were fantastic - Kumal and his team's enthusiasm and knowledge really made the whole thing so much more memorable. There's incredible bird life, and one evening we saw a group of elephant just meters from the camp. The following morning we watched an individual cross fields and visit the water hole. Ownere Lars couldn't have been more helpful in making arrangements, before and after our visit

We had a brilliant experience with the Tree Tops Jungle Lodge in the last week of July. A camp set up, yet first class service. Curry meals were delicious, the team good company and all the time ready to fulfill or needs. Tented rooms are nicely planned for a pleasant flow of light and air. There is a very clean bathroom inside the tent, complete with toilet, shower, a beautiful wooden sink and running water. The comfortable tents, camp ambiance and mud restaurant are just right for the location and concept. A true privilege to be in such a small size, nature focused establishment set in a real jungle location.

As keen birdwatchers we were in our element in this remarkable natural area. We were taken on some interesting walks in the fascinating wilderness around the camp – all excursions led by the outstanding host and operations manager, Kamal and joined by other trackers. An afternoon a herd of 9 elephants arrived to the camp…, eating in the bush near the mud restaurant. An exceptional highlight, off course.

It is awfully strange to note below, extremely negative review. Particularly since the reviewer got facts totally wrong! A review with a bad smell. This reviewer has done a mistake (wrong hotel) or consciously posted a badly misleading, false review for whatever reason and intention. Ridiculous to see the writer make reference to the rain season in July………. The truth is a prolonged drought had prevailed for 3 months when we stayed in the end of July….. Also, what a joke the reviewer proposes to stay in some of the ‘plenty of other alternative hotels’ in the area. The truth is there is jungle only… The whole district has very few, if any real hotels.
We actually stayed at Tree Tops Jungle Lodge (Buttala, Sri Lanka). The below review ‘Not clean, too basic’ contains no description of the Tree Tops Jungle Lodge we stayed at in July.

The Tree Tops Jungle Lodge is highly recommended for comfy tented facilities, an unusual experience with the wild Sri Lanka and a great staff team managing the place very well. Cheers, Andrew Scott Fitzgerald.

My wife and I had an absolutely superb time in these peaceful surroundings. Lars, Kamal and their team made the experience so enjoyable with their friendliness, skills, and attentiveness. From safaris, to digging for gems in the river, to fishing in the lake, walks in the jungle, and walking up to the sounds of trumpetting elephants, we relished every minute of it. Spending 4 nights in a luxurious tent accommodation but in a wild and serene setting was an experience that we will remember forever. The team went out of its way to make our time special as we celebrated our anniversary and my wife's birthday. Good food, good wines, good times, great people...what more can you ask for... Cheers

Thanks Harry, for such a positive feedback following your stay with us in July. The elephants were trumpeting on time, as an alarm clock 6 am. We are happy to note, that this was not too early...

We really enjoyed creating some special days for you and wish we get the opportunity to welcome you again in the future.

Kind regards. Lars
