“Sort of misleading”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

We were just there. The fancy new digs (pictured) are under construction, and the construction activity blocks the sidewalk, so access (from town) is crossing heavily traveled streets twice. Once without stop lights. The Main Street in Tain l'hermitage is a major highway and full of lorries going west.
The old shop is still operational, and delightful. My only caution is that the new building is not complete as of 10/5/13 and walking to the old location is an adventure.
After the new building is complete (maybe early November 2013) it should be less of an adventure.

“'Sweetie shop bliss'”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

As a 40 something, I only wished there were things like this around when I was a kid. More chocolate delights than you care to mention. I can see why Nigella crows on about this chocolate. Just imagine a shop where you can taste as much as you like before you buy... Heaven, accept I'd just finished an hours wine tasting at Chapoutier!!!! On a serious note, the chocolate is great quality and as of October the neighbouring massive Chocolate City opens. Hmmm hmmm. Enjoy this through back to Willy Wonka's dream world and don't count those calories.

I am very sorry but Willy Wonka won't be at the Citè du Chocolat on October. But you could discover mysteries of chocolate with all our partners on cocoa plantations or in pastry shops. You could also taste 15 different varieties of chocolate. Thank you for your message.

“Great chocolate!”
Reviewed August 15, 2013

We were on a river cruise and we docked in L'Hermitage to take a tour of the town and wine taste. Our guide suggested the chocolate shop at the end of our tour. All over the shop are bowls with samples in them. Between my husband and I we probably had 20 samples. They have one called blonde chocolate. Apparently the chocolate maker made it by mistake. He over cooked the white chocolate and it became carmelized. It's quite tasty. We bought a can of 100% cocoa to take back with us. Figured it would last longer that way.

Tank you for your message.
Effectively, we offer a free tasting to our visitors, and this year our blond chocolate Dulcey is a great success .
You could find it on our US website if you want more.
In less than 2 months, we will open the "Cité du Chocolat" a place to discover chocolate mysteries.
You could come back next year.

“Will be Much Better Soon”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

The current shop is crowded and overrun, and not much different than any other high end chocolate shop. But they are building, and plan to open in October 2013, a much larger building that tells you more about their business and will be both museum and chocolate shop. I expect it will be much better then.

“Helpful staff”
Reviewed June 11, 2013

The excellent staff went out of their way to show us chocolate products that were gluten-free, which we wanted for a grandchild with food allergies. I wish there was a shop like this near my home in New York.
