“Pleasant New Forest pub”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

On a cycling day trip from Salisbury and in the area of Redlynch looking for somewhere to have lunch, when we found the Kings Head.

Lovely old pub, a few people in, friendly staff, good choice of beers and ciders, roaring fire. We both chose a salad for lunch, they were delivered quickly and were delicious.

Next time we are in the area we will definitely call in

“Great pub again”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

On a busy Saturday night managed to fit us in on a decent sized table after some rearranging. Staff helpful and pleasant, local beer first class, although not a cider drinker myself there looked to be some interesting draughts available. We enjoyed the home made pies served with tasty veg all freshly cooked and with separate jugs of individual gravy appropriate to the variety of pie.
Portions were more than adequate, served hot as should be, and with a smile.
We stayed with just the main course and at under £10 per head, excellent value.
Atmosphere was as a village pub should be, nice to see local people supporting the place.
Although locals ourselves this was our first visit since the revamp but it will not be our last.
Could find no fault on this occasion. Can't wait to sample other dishes, some already recommended by neighbours.

“Breakfast”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Had the vegetarian breakfast and it was excellent! Filled us up for the days shopping! I had the normal size and my partner the large. Very good value for money.

“Lovely setting. Poor food”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We went for a roast today as a large family. Beautiful pub and setting. Warm welcome nice staff. Unfortunately the roast was rubbish. The potatoes were deep fried not roasted. The chicken Was deep fried not roasted and the beef was yesterdays that had been microwaved and the waitress openly admitted this!! We ordered desert but the apple pie was like slop so we had to send it back. It was a cheap microwaved pie with what seemed like value cheap ice cream. We had to send it back and tell her and although I was eating my chocolate cake she whipped them both away from under us and snapped 'well don't eat them then'. Damn right rude considering I was mid eating mine. I would have just not returned had she not done that but as she was so rude I felt I needed to write this. £20 a head for awful deep fried food.

“Twelve very satisfied appetites”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

It's rare that so many of our family of twelve with ages ranging from 14 to 94 have had different dishes and all have been pleased with their choices. Even the vegetarians amongst us were pleased to find two very different main meal options. Well done to the kitchen and serving staff.
We were also pleased that they have no problems accepting well-behaved dogs, as it's an ideal location for a meal after a walk in the nearby New Forest.
