We visited Scotney on a wet June day but it was more than worth it to see the lovely house, the beautiful old castle and the stunning garden and lake.

A very beautiful and well kept attraction. We went on a very hot day in July and the trees and shrubs were fantastic. Thoroughly recommend although it is a fairly steep in places. Very helpful staff also.

Superb location to visit any time of the year, although the rhododendron bushes are particularly spectacular in spring, this is one of my favourite National Trust sites.
Extensive views of rolling countryside, picturesque surroundings throughout the many acres included, with the exquisitely attractive ruins of the castle reflected in the calm waters of the lake (or should this be described as a moat?).

Scotney is local so we go there often if we want a stroll in beautiful gardens. They are quite steep but if you can manage well worth the effort. Almost anytime of the year they are beautiful, Rhodedendrums, Wisteria, wonderful different foliage. The main liveable house was rebuilt at the top,of the hill so you can visit without the steep part. A family home until relatively recently. The very picturesque Castle is in a moat at the bottom of the hill. Mostly to walk around the outside of as virtually a ruin. Scotney appears on numerous calendars and you can easily see why.

Great walk around the ground, half way on the longest walk you can end up in the Globe and Rainbow pub.........
