My hubby and I visited the Chequers yesterday whilst out on a jaunt around Kent. We were impressed on all accounts!
The bar area was welcoming, however we chose to eat outside in the lovely garden next to the river.
Both food and drink are ordered at the bar, and the menu was varied and reasonaby priced. I went for the special of cajun spiced steak with coleslaw and fries, the hubby went for a burger and fries. Both portions were big compared to usual UK pubs, and the drinks were good too.
Overall it was a very nice meal, good food and drink accompanied by glorious British summer weather! What more could a girl ask for :-)

Very friendly, surprisingly good ie. much better than average food for a pub, with a beautiful garden for sunny days by the river. This place looks a bit worn out form the street but a lick of paint was the only thing we could find wrong with the place!

We stopped here on our way home from a family weekend away. There were 7 adults and 4 kids under 5 in our group. We squeezed our way through to the seating area where the tables were dirty and all sat down. After about 15 mins a waitress came over to tell us that they were stopping serving food in 5 minutes so basically hurry up! Then she wandered off again. No one came over to clear the tables or offer drinks! The other table of diners sent 2 meals back to kitchen complaining that the fish they has ordered was still frozen!! We decided at this point to leave! Not impressed! so back to went through the bar squeezing our way through the bar to get outside! We ended up at the very near by Brown Trout Inn where we are treated very well and had a fabulous meal!

Dropped in one evening for a quick drink and ended up eating and staying til the end. Great service, food was excellent and staff very attentive and friendly. It was quiet when we were there but don't know why. Would recommend this pub to anyone, the only downside was there was no phone signal ! Hardly their fault.

Absolutely incredible service. Owners were unbelievably helpful and accommodating. Service was definitely above and beyond what I would expect to receive anywhere. Restaurant was kept open late for us and the food was everything you could hope for, fresh, original and definitely cooked by someone with a love for good food.
