We stayed at this wonderful castle/chateau for two nights and felt as though we were staying with family. We met both Count Etienne de Maupeou and his son Charles de Maupeou while there. They were both very congenial and knowledgeable about the castle's history and the history of the surrounding area. They made reservations for us at the BEST restaurant of our entire trip! (La Maree in Grandcamp Maisy--best scallops I've ever eaten! We ate there both nights!) The chateau was admirably situated for exploration of the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, and the towns in the surrounding area. The castle itself was a trip back into the 14th century..we stayed in the Louis XVI room, with its adjacent sitting room and lovely view over the countryside (cows). The breakfast was ample and delicious; the first day we had the HUGE dining room to ourselves. A stay at this castle/chateau was one of the highlights of our trip!
