The view of the house from the road is amazing! It was a wonderful walk around the grounds and walled garden. However, you don't get to see too much of the house as its still used by the Benedictine Nuns, that live and work there. Children under 10yrs old go free, so its still good value, if you like walking!

There is a small chapel and mausoleum on the estate too.

The facilities on site were excellent and not too expensive (food and coffee etc.). The toilets were very clean, although we arrived just as it opened, they may not be so good by the end of the day, as the amount of visitors was amazing, especially out of season.

This was a lovely Abbey, super gardens too.I loved all the history to the place, so easy to imagine in its heyday. The entry was very reasonable too.

“Kylemore Abbey”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We were on the last leg of our Ireland trip and asked the Bed and Breakfast owner for a suggestion on what to do near Galway. She suggested driving through the Connemarra Forest where we stumbled upon Kylemore Abbey. The Abbey was amazing. The day we were there the water was so calm that we could see the reflection of the Abbey perfectly. It was absolutely stunning! For something that wasn't on our pre-trip list of things to do, this turned out to be one of our favorite memories.

The building is placed very dramatically across a pond so it's a great photo op. You can only tour part of the first floor but you get a real sense of the history and grandeur of the abbey. The gardens were a special treat but unfortunately we didn't get to see the church.

I saw the Gardens at the end of the season, so not to much to see. Still worth a look just to hear the history of the grounds on the bus to the gardens. The Abbey was nice, wish there was more you could see in the Abbey. The view from the front steps are like none other. The history of the property is amazing. There is also a mini-cathedral and mausoleum on the grounds.
