“Serene beauty”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

This has to be one of the most beautiful places that you could visit. The setting amongst the mountains is truly breathtaking and is undoubtedly worth a visit. The interior of the house is mundane- do not bother going in, as all the splendour is outside in front of your very eyes. This is one of the jewels in the crown of this exceptionally beautiful part of the world.

“Well worth a visit.”
Reviewed January 3, 2013

This place is all about the wonderful setting and restored garden, which is a work-in-progress. We've seen the restoration progress and mature over many years.

The abbey itself is impressive from the outside, but disappointing inside.

Get the shuttle bus through the woods to the garden, walk along the lakeshore and have a coffee. It's a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon.

The big "tourist-trap" shop is actually rather good. Some visitors never get any farther!

Top Tip; Wear insect repellent beside the lake !

“Nice garden, but don't expect to see a lot in the castle”
Reviewed December 30, 2012 via mobile

We just went to Kylemore Abbey in order to spend a little time there, but, after, we realized the visit it's a must-see. The gardens are amazing and all the way to get there is a nice sightseeing. The castle is also great, but be prepared for only a quick tour inside the castle - almost all the rooms of the castle are not available to visit.

“Bad value”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

Very disappointed with our visit yesterday- €22.50 for 1adult & 1senior just to see the house, NOBODY there, a DVD on a loop & no sign of a bus to take us to the walled garden. Kylemore IS a stunning place, with a lovely cafe & shop, but don't pay to see the house etc. I did register my disappointment, only to be told how busy it is in summer!!

“Well worth the visit”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

A cold showery day when we visited. The house was very interesting. I found the wall charts a great help in following the family history. Went down to the wall garden. Would love to go back in the spring and summer. It was still worth the visit. then it got to wet the see the other sites. Will go on the list for another visit.
