Description: Bistrot with a nice local, but slightly more modern type of cuisine. All product are fresh and all dishes are home-made. Very enjoyable terrace on mediaval square looking at the 2 entrance gates to the village. Service with a genuine smile.

We visited this superb village 2 years ago and had lunch in Bistros 2 which was lovely so this year we went back for a lunch again and once again it was great, not perhaps the cheapest venue but watching the world go by, fine dining from beneath the wisteria canopy in the mid day heat was ideal.
The waitresses were good and appreciated our poor French attempts while I must applaud their good English.
We will return!!

Thank Dave P

A good option when you fancy something more relaxed and lower budget - but still has great quality. We had steaks and three courses and it was still cheaper than the majority of restaurants in the town. Good service also :)

A great restaurant with excellent food looking at the Bastide town walls of Monpazier. The duck breast was about the best I have ever had. A reasonable wine list and varied . Highly recommended.

Having spent a week in Monpazier, we decided to try Bistro 2 due to the flattering reviews that we had read.
Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience. My wife ordered the beef meal and I had the duck breast. Both meals, though flavoursome, were very tough to the point of being barely edible.
When the waitress asked why we had failed to finish the meals, I decided to tell her that both of the meals were very tough. She seemed not to be too concerned.
When I came to pay the bill, the other waiter raised the fact that he had heard that we were not happy with the meals. I repeated that they were tough and he replied: "What, both of them? That's a coincidence!" Wow! That really summed up this place.
With that, I paid the bill and we left.
I appreciate that any restaurant can't get every meal right but, it is how a reputable restaurant deals with this sort of situation which really shows you what sort of restaurant it is.
My recommendation? Go elsewhere.
There are many other very good restaurants in Monpazier. Leave this one off your list.

Thank you for your review. We trully do feel it to be very important that every guest has the best possible experience with us. Any remark will be taken seriously, but a complaint on 2 out of 2 dishes at the very end of the meal with the plates clean and empty is difficult to rectify. We do encourage all our future guests to raise any concerns straigthaway and we will do anything to get it right. (redo the dish, propose another dish). But just giving a discount at the end of the meal is not satisfying to us...... We have also noted that you only use Tripadvisor to note your negative remarks, which allows us to be a bit less concerned about your review. Hans, Katja & the team of Bistrot 2

As a tourist in France it can be maddening not to be able to eat when you want, often finding it is too late to have lunch at 1.30! Not here, they seem to serve all day (except Fridays I think they are closed). It was certainly a welcome change for us.

The food is very decent, the drink selection if very good and the outdoor seating area is really nice. The staff are friendly and can speak English if you need. The recommended wine of the month was Chilean rather than French which is very unusual to see around here so I think it is certainly geared up for tourists but manages to do it very well.

We had tried to eat at Restaurant Eleonore owned by the same hotel but when we walked in they ignored us for quite a while and then said they were fully booked even though more than half the tables were empty.

It's economically not always easy to provide longer opening hours and the maximum of opening days. Thererfor it very much appreciated when it's so well perceived by our clients. Thank you for your motivaiting comments on this. We do like to serve good local wines but also one or two references of "eslewhere" and that is, believe it or not, especially appreciated by our "local" clients, who like to discover something else now and then. We had informed our colleagues of Restaurant Eléonore about your experience there. They actually were booked up to capacity, as they had also severall tables occupied inside. Very best regards, Hans, Katja & the team of Bistrot 2.
