“Surprisingly good food”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

Sat out on a balmy evening under the leafy canopy in late September. Good local menu 'of the region' and pleasant staff.

We were told about this restaurant in our house booklet when staying at My Little French House in Monflanquin. We wish we'd tried this sooner as we would have eaten there every night! Food, service and setting were spectacular. The best meal we ate all week!

“A pleasant alternative in a town full of Dordogne Duck and Foie Gras restaurants.”
Reviewed October 9, 2013 via mobile

This bistro which is associated with the boutique hotel, Edward 1st is a breath of culinary fresh air. Although offering some regional dishes, it has greater variety than many restaurant in the town. Tasty soups, fish dishes and interesting desserts. You can dine inside or outside under a wisteria canopy. The staff are young and eager and the chef can accommodate vegetarians and vegans. Even the background music is eclectic and provides a pleasant change from the dark, dated interiors often found in the area. Prices are reasonable.

“Nice food but...”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

We did enjoy the food here and most of the staff were pleasant but overall there was a problem with the speed of the service. We weren't in a hurry to leave the lovely village of Monpazier (worth a visit) but we did spend a long time between courses and then waiting for the bill. Sharpen up just a little and you may have a winner and rise among the ranks of Monpazier restaurants.

We do not share the comments of the other reviews. We ate there on a Saturday night when other restaurants in the town were busy but there was only one other couple beside ourselves. The food was good but the service perfunctory and as the last couple to leave we felt they couldn't wait for us to go. Pretentious.
