Having lunched at Café M the same September week it got two good and one stinging review I can clear up some of the confusion. A single waiter was valiantly trying to serve too many tables. I hadn’t yet read the service complaint but did ask him why he didn’t have assistance. He explained that the other server is in her latter days of pregnancy and taking some time off.
Prices are reasonable here and the kitchen takes extra effort. The Caprese Salad was excellent; buffalo mozzarella framed with both green and red basil. The main dish included a garnish of roasted peppers. You do have to go inside to pay but the place is an art gallery with a show of paintings by noted New York artist, John Griefen. We spent more time at lunch than planned, but the setting, under umbrellas in a Medieval town square, is a place to linger.
