“Excellent and... risky”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

I have been there for a few dinners and the quality has always been very good.
Very friendly service accommodating also some late arrival.
A Panoramic view of Bordeaux is available in the square outside the restaurant but not from the restaurant.
Among their grilled specialties I found excellent the CARRE D’AGNEAU and the MAGRET DE CANARD with fries that do much more than "surrounding" the meat.
From a certain point of view, it is also a very "risky" restaurant because of the possibility of accessing a BUFFET DE DESSERTS where you shall serve yourself as you like. This fact, combined to the incredible variety and quality of desserts make almost sure that the quantity of desserts will be high. Only alternative - not recommended - it so to give up about the desserts :o)

“Typically French”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 26, 2013

Two excellent buffets (savoury and sweet) and a large menu for main course (but surprisingly little French beef!). Friendly service accompanied by (on Thursday evenings) live music. Atmospheric, typically French restaurant, especially good in the winter time when the small rooms are packed with people. During summer time the glass atrium is popular with local businessmen for luncheon.

What a treat! Delicious food and plentiful. All the food is fresh and there are two buffets to sample.

“Basic but excellent”

A list of meats with green salad and chips. Friendly owner/great service made this a really nice classic French bistro.

“Arrogant or indifferent service, little French meat”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

We went there upon the recommendation of our hotel. This was our first night out outside Bordeaux. What a disapointment.
My wife was kept waiting for 5 minutes when she arrived at thequite empty restaurant. No one seemed to care. Owner was talking loudly to some British guests completely ignoring other arriving guests. Waiters placed us at a reserved table in teh middle of the terrace. While most "best tables" were free. Of course later during teh evening when teh restaurant got more busy they got allocated to late arriving guests without a reservation, clever but very frustrating marketing technique. More similar to a tourist trap in the Cote d'Azur. Completely indifferent waiter, didn't care at all about us. Threw teh main course on teh table an left, I wanted some wine had to call him back, he did not return listened from end of teh room, I ordered my first red bordeaux glass and NEVER got it!!!
The food: most meats are imported, when you know that the area produces some of teh best meats (Limousine and Balsas races). Very little wine choice by the glass.
Even local guests who got VIP service next to us mentioned to the owner that people where arriving and where waiting to get a table he replied in an arrogant manner "it is taken care off".
Food: overcooked fish, not really fresh scallops...probably unfrozen...avoid cheap cantine style starter buffet bar with pasta and rice salad...
