Large and comfortable for the location.
The food is excellent and the wine list matches the location

Great spot for a short stay to tour the area (Albi and surround) but be away from crowds - very quiet.
Surrounded by Gaillac vineyards and overlooking the valley.
Staff is very attentive

We recently returned from a short holiday at this hotel. We stayed in a grand confort room on the first floor , overlooking the valley. The views in the day were stunning and the star gazing at night was superb. The room was very modern and clean. No shower , just a bath which was a real shame - trying to wash ones hair in a bath with a shower attachment caused water to spray all over the floor. Not ideal at all.
The bed was large and comfortable , and the air con worked fine.
The evening meals were lovely , although after a few days the lack of any variety in the menu started to get a little dull. They could do with changing the menu more often,
Breakfast was varied with fruits , pastries , hams , cheeses . cereal , boiled eggs etc. The only disappointment was the scrambled eggs which did not get refreshed at all. Unless you were there at 7:30 am , otherwise upon opening the lid you were met with a conjealed and crusty lump. Most unappetising.

Room Tip: Go for a first floor for the views

We spent one night at the Chateau on a ground floor room which was much more spacious than I was expecting with an entry hall, large room, spacious bathroom with double sinks and tub, and a separate toilet room. The room had a separate door that led out to the garden area where each room had their own chairs and/or patio dining area. It was very quiet and peaceful sitting in the garden area. We also spent some time at the pool which was down a set of outdoor stairs leading to a fairly secluded pool area overlooking the countryside and vineyards.

In addition to the ground amenities, we attended the free wine tasting at 6:30pm which allowed for the taste of 3 different types of local wines produced by the winery itself. It was a fairly basic tasting but it was nice to try the range of wine variety. Now to our favourite bit of our stay - the dinner. We enjoyed an aperitif before each settling on the 3 course menu with wine pairing. The food was presented exquisitely and tasted equally amazing. We knew going into it, the meal would be expensive, but I would not have traded it for a less expensive meal at a local restaurant.

While we very much enjoyed our stay, the two complaints (rather minor) would be that the tub had a handheld only shower head and the bed was a bit on the hard side. Neither were enough to put me off and we would definitely come back... especially for another fabulous meal!

We recently spent a weekend at the chateau, together with our border collie, and with a couple of exceptions we all had a superb stay.

As already described by previous reviewers, the location of the chateau is perfect for either chilling out, or visiting the various attractions and towns in the Gaillac area, including the Chateau de Mauriac, which is literally 5 minutes away on the same road.

Albi is about 30 minutes drive, and is certainly worth a stop to see the Cathedral and the old town.

Our room opened directly onto the grassy area between the hotel and pool, great for sitting or having a drink in the afternoon. It was minimalistic, but more than adequately equipped, the bed large and very comfortable, air conditioning worked well, which was necessary as the external temperature was around 32deg most of the time, and very quiet. We slept well.

The pool is on a level below the hotel, so reached by a series of wooden stairs, and the hotel is surrounded by vineyards, easily accessible for walks in the country.

The highlight of the stay, though, is certainly the restaurant. We ate there both evenings, and were delighted with the experience, the food excellent, the staff equally so, very attentive and considerate, as well as good knowledge of both the local and other wines on the wine list. It isn’t cheap, but frankly, you get what you pay for, and we certainly had our money’s worth.

The two downsides – no shower in the bathroom, which the hotel is certainly aware of, and is trying to do something about. The problem is the design of the bath, which doesn’t allow an overhead shower without the water draining all over the floor, so major reconstruction is necessary.

The second is the breakfast, which quite honestly is not acceptable at the price, nor for the standard of hotel the Chateau is. Long waits for the coffee machine to be refilled, only for it to run out of beans – twice, poor eggs, and a general lag in response for anything requested. What food is available is good, but the downsides spoil the experience. A number of reviews highlight this shortcoming, and we also pointed it out to the staff, so there isn’t any excuse for the hotel not to do something about it.
However, apart from this, the Chateau is a very
good hotel and we can recommend it highly.

Having been so looking forward to a much needed night away...sadly Chateau De Salettes has not met our expectations. ...

We booked a Gourmet Package for €350 inclusive of breakfast and the Toulouse Lautrec menu. Not inexpensive!

We knew the chateau had a very modern interior. This is fine although decidedly clinical. Tiny jacuzzi bath and no shower which was very disappointing. The room was nice and big and quiet aircon. Very bland interior though sadly. Quiet which was nice. No free water in the room but extortionate mini bar water!!

A big let down was having spent the afternoon enjoying the pool etc...at no point did any staff come and offer drinks. At the price they are charging this should be done! You have to go to reception to find anyone.

Our highlight was the wine tasting with the amazing Sommelier, Geoffrey. A total credit to the hotel and made our stay as his customer service was exceptional.

The food was stunning though so thank heavens and credit to the chef and team.
Credit again to Geoffrey for his fine wine pairing and to Danny the Maitre D'!

Breakfast was sadly a let down. Again at the price you pay actually getting a coffee bought to you isn't a lot to ask. Waited 15 minutes for the ruddy machine to be filled up. Dodgy looking scrambled eggs await you but certainly not freshly cooked to order. Pastries nice and lovely confitures. Again lacking for the price..

This hotel needs to pick itself up in terms of the detail and customer service. The little.things make the difference.

Our bill was not shy of €500 for one night.... unfortunately we'd come back to eat and see Geoffrey and Danny again but not to stay. It isn't worth the money.

There are other places that offer far more for far less.
