now a three-Michelin star establishment, chef Goujon produces perfect food, served expertly - you must have the egg with truffle, it is wonderful - and the rooms are interesting - ask for a chef room in the separate building, but don't try to find the restaurant with satnav; very expensive, worth every penny

We live not far away and come here as a treat every few months. The set midday meal is 65 euros and you get around six courses all immaculately designed, cooked and presented. The atmosphere is not at all snooty with very friendly, knowledgeable and mostly english speaking staff. The wines are very expensive with a simple chardonnay vdp around 40 euros. Every time we visit we come away thinking that it has been a truly rewarding and value experience. Just treat yourself !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was our second visit - we had been for lunch a year previously soon after the restaurant was awarded "Les Tois Etoiles" and on both occasions, came away feeling that we had received more than fair value for what we had paid; our bill on both occasions was slightly more than Euro200.
I will not go into the details of the food served except to record here that the balance of flavours offered were exceptional - the service complemented the food being unobtrusive but attentive; there were a lot of young persons involved who clearly knew what they were required to do. On our second visit, the first bottle of wine offered was not poured, the waiter informing us that it was not good; it was immediately replaced.
This is not a restaurant that I would wish to visit too regularly - it would make my/our taste in food very expensive; our agreed verdict was that we will definitely return and have started saving for our next visit.

We stayed two nights at the Auberge du Vieux Puits. The setting is charming and memorable, and convenient to some wonderful sights. The breakfast was wonderful--simple, but perfect in every way. Just what it should be. The dinner was best of all. The food was superb, the presentation was food theater at its best, and the service was warm and inviting. The meal went from high point to high point, without a single false note. The favorable price/quality rapport is an added bonus.

one of the best dining experiences we've had in France. during our tour of the langudoc, we had the help of our hotel to secure a lunch reservation for us during a rather popular period. though a belt-bursting experience, it was wonderful. such gifted and elaborate presentation coupled with explosive flavours. elegant surroundings, both rustic and charming yet very modern. the restaurant is sitiuated in the middle of the old country, one couldn't imagine a well-rated restaurant to thrive but it does. we were impressed by the cheese trolley most of all. an overwhelming array, a dream come true for my husband who couldn't contain himself and requested, in my opinion, more cheese than he should have. He noted down names and origins so that we could source them out ourselves. I would recommend anyone eating here to either starve the day before or simply ensure a good hunger pang before their meal here. we did end up over-eating and thus, felt really uncomfortable after but the suffering was worth it. I loved the rotten egg with truffles, rich fragrant and inventive. might make another visit when we next come around this area and the next time, we'll be sure to fast before the meal.
