You do not always get what you ask for. When we requested an ocean view room, we expected that. Unfortunately, we overlooked a swamp that was an inlet to the ocean. The hotel staff is not helpful at all with setting up excursions so we were not able to do but one excursion. We will not stay here again.

Room Tip: The hotel is at the base of the "Mountain" so mountain view rooms look directly into the w...

We stayed here 1 night to catch an early flight after a week in Nevis. The room was nice and large. The bed was very comfortable. There was a refrigerator in the room. There was a large, clean bathroom with a nice shower. The beach was not great, but it was sandy. The snorkeling was some of the best we've had for a while under the pier and to the left of the hotel along the shoreline. A great variety of fish. We would definitely stay here again for a longer stay. There are many beach bar choices to have dinner within a 5 - 15 minute walk along the beach.

Room Tip: Chose a room away from the office for a more quiet room.

Hotel very quiet (but went in July, low season), nice clean ocean view room with a good balcony. Staff very helpful and friendly. Entertaining to watch the monkeys come down the hill in the mornings to play. Typical Caribbean hotel, bit rough round the edges, but preferable to us than the big Marriott Hotel on the Atlantic side nearby. Hotel restaurant good, Dock Bar great for an early evening drink (but closed on a Saturday which was disappointing). Beach disappointing - not very wide and black sand, hotel beach beds need replacing - sun beds at the pool really comfortable but not enough umbrellas for shade - we were ok as it was so quiet, but if busy there would not be enough. Lively bars on the beach -Mr X's Shiggidy Shack on July 4th celebrations was a great evening with some good bands and the Dock Bar had live music on Sunday, which was really good. Journey to Shipwreck Inn in the taxi was spectacular - scenery was amazing, although the food at the inn was a bit disappointing, it was worth the trip. We found eating out and getting around quite expensive. Although we enjoyed it and met some nice people, still prefer the white sandy beaches of Antigua or St Lucia.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are good, but are not right on the ocean - you can just about see the ocean from mo...

We stayed at the Timothy Beach Resort after deciding to stay somewhere more down-to-earth and affordable than the Marriott. Other reviews noted that the beach gets a bit noisy, the service is no-frills, and the rooms are basic. All true, but seriously, if you're out enjoying the island and not planning to spend all your time in your room, this resort is the way to go. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, kept clean, the A/C hummed along nicely. We met the manager's wife, who was a fun character and gave us great tips for seeing the island. And we absolutely loved the hotel's beach bar, where we weathered a few storms and had great conversations with other visitors who had escaped the Marriott and were enjoying a less commercialized/sanitized version of St. Kitts. If this is what you're looking for, then Timothy Beach Resort will suit you quite nicely. Don't forget to have dinner at Cathy's Beach Bar while you're there!

Hello all,
I stayed here for a week in July, and found it to be very accomodating.

First of all, this is what I would rate as about a 3ish star place, it's not luxury, it's a middle of the road decent place to stay. You should not have a problem getting your basic needs met at Timothy Beach. The location is of course great, as you are basically within half a mile of the rest of the tourist hub. It's not the Marriot resort bubble type place, however I spent a fair amount of time at the Marriot beach as well. I'll give you a little comparison between the two...here we go.

(At Timothy Beach)The rooms were clean and suitable, the A/C worked great, the TV's were kind of small and the water pressure in the shower was a little weak. You are on the Caribbean side at this hotel. The beach is maybe 100 paces away..not too far. The water and wind are more calm on this side, maybe a little warmer as well, but the beach is a little smaller than at the Marriot. That being said...you shouldn't be swamped with seaweed on the Caribbean side, like you will see on the Atlantic side. The Marriot will have the extras, a few more places to eat, a casino, lots more eye candy, a great pool..an overall more luxury type place. Timothy Beach is a little closer to the ground...you are a little bit more able to mix with the local/actual feel of the culture of this place. Timothy Beach has a pool on a built up wooden deck...it's pretty small, but decent. The staff is very friendly...shouldn't be any problems there. There are a handful of little places to eat within walking distance(no more than 1/2 mile), as well as a little grocery store named Rams(where you can pick up your basics). Umm...there was a small fridge at Timothy Beach in the room, but if you actually want to cook something, you are out of luck(at least my room didn't have one).

There is a really good chance you'll see some monkeys when you are there...I saw three and held a little one. I took a hike up and over Timothy Hill behind the hotel...it was pretty rough and there was no trail, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you are into a unguided rough challenge. There are plenty of other activities that you can immerse yourself in though...and a handful of tour guides and companys that will be happy to have you along.

also...on a side note...I'm a light sleeper. There is a bird on this island that sounds like a mild car alarm, and the bird does not stop singing at night either. The bird did seem to have a home right outside of my window, that was awesome. Hmm...yeah.

All in all....St Kitts is such a beautiful island and it is very much worth seeing and exploring. The landscape reminded me a lot of Maui(but smaller)...and I love Maui.

We stayed at the hotel for the first two weeks in June 2012.
We booked a one-bedroom suite, it was the whole ground floor of the building three in from the left, number 32.
The room was clean and quite modern, it had a full size fridge/freezer and a comfortable bed.
There was a good-sized bathroom with a small walk in shower, the water pressure was OK but it took a while to warm up.
The balcony had a table, two chairs and two sun loungers.

We booked the resort mainly due to the reviews on Tripadviser describing the beaches on the Atlantic and Caribbean sides of the island and we were very happy with the choice.
The sea was calm every day, the water was clear and warm and as it was low season we had the beach to ourselves most days.
We went to the other side of the island to use the cash machine at the Marriott and were very surprised at how rough the sea and wind was.

The good points

The room was large, clean and comfortable, the fridge was especially useful.
The grounds are very clean and well maintained.
The beach was the calmest on the island.
The pool was clean and tidy and the sunbeds were very comfortable.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
The restaurant was clean and the food and service were good.

The bad points.

There was no safe in the room although we never had a problem with security.
The beach and the pool were quite small, at most 20 beds on each, we never had a problem as it was low season but in high season it could get very crowded.
The restaurant was very expensive and they added 10% service and 12% tax to every bill.

As for Frigate Bay as a whole, we were very happy, the area was safe to explore and clean.
The was a supermarket about 600 yards away and the Marriott with the cash machine was about a mile away.

Due to the time of year most of the beach shacks were shut, Mr X’s shack and the hotel restaurant were open every night and Cathy’s Ocean view bar was open at weekends, there was also a nice pizza place about 600 yards away.

Our opinion of the shacks was that Cathy’s was the cheapest with larger portions, they also used proper glasses.
Mr X’s shack was more expensive with smaller dishes but with better food and plastic glasses.

We also hired a small car from Avis for £66 for two days to see the island and had a good time, we went to Turtle Beach, Brimstonehill Fort and ate at the Spicemill restaurant at Cockleshell bay, all recommended.

On the whole we had a great time at Timothy Beach resort, we had nothing to complain about, we had a very relaxing time but I think a lot of that was due to it being very quite.

Room Tip: The one bedroom suites have an almost complete kitchen, we had breakfast and lunch most days in our...

I had booked a hillside room but on arrival was upgraded to a sea view room with a kitchen. This room was a great size and the fridge was invaluable. The balcony was large with 2 loungers and a table and 2 chairs.
Everyone at the hotel was efficient and friendly. It took moments to book in and get settled in my room. The hotel is well situated as there are many bars and restaurants close at hand and a supermarket is within easy walking distance.
The hotel has loungers and chairs on a small section of rocky beach but the rocks disappear about 12 feet into the water and the water is shallow and safe. If you move further along the beach there is more sand and it's easier to get into the sea.
Reception arranged a trip around the island for me which was very enjoyable. If you want shorter trips, there's a plentiful supply of taxis just outside of the hotel.
Everything was easy, without hassle and clean which is what I want from a hotel.
