“Worth a Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012

We were looking for a place to have a snack in the middle of our journey through Northumberland and stumbled across this lovely town centre pub and restaurant. We were met by friendly staff, in particular the gentleman who served us our food and coffee in the bar area; he was extremely pleasant and had a great sense of humour. The food was very tasty, hot and reasonably priced and we had coffee refills without having to ask. I would recommend a visit to the Queens Head Inn if you are in the area, you will not be disappointed.

Stayed just one night and ate in restaurant. Hotel room had been very nicely and fashionably decorated. Our bathroom was disproportionately large compared to bedroom. Atmosphere in bar was very congenial. Food was very good but our waiter had his own way of attending which my wife and I struggled to appreciate. We saw just one other hotel in the centre of Rothbury so Queens Head has a dominant position in town.

Called in for a meal last Sunday evening along with our 2 dogs. All were made very welcome and we enjoyed an excellent meal with first class service and very reasonably priced. Most pleasant staff we have encountered anywhere for quite some time. Will certainly be back next time we are in the area.

Good location for food in Rothbury. Good food and service and nice dinning room to eat in. Would liked to have attended the "Accordian" night and Rod Clemants music event on the Thursday so next time will check ahead.

Room Tip: If looking for food in Rothbury, a good place to choose

Don't be put off by the exterior of this pub! It's a lovely little quirky place to stay. Room absolutely spotless, lovely white duvet and towels and obviously been re-decorated. The food was excellent in the restaurant in the evening, again - unusual setting but we loved it. Staff very friendly. Stayed for just one night but did enjoy it! It obviously is a very old pub which is being done up but still retains it's character. Very reasonable B & B and food also good value for money.

When we first arrived we where slightly dismayed. The public areas are tatty and in need of renovation. However, the room was spotlessly clean , well appointed, and comfortable.
Food was excellent, staff friendly.
The bar area seemed to be permanently full of local "colour" not really to my liking.
Would i stay again? Possibly, but probably not.
A pity. Really because it could be so much better with a bit of tlc and a residents bar.
