“Another wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2013

Another wonderful stay at Coquetvale hotel using Living Social but also paid to upgrade our room .The friendly service, food and accommodation was excellent and we really enjoyed dining in the hotel's Italian restaurant too.
All the staff and the manager were very warm and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Gina was particularly friendly and we hope she enjoys her well earned break back in the Phillipines.
Thank you and we look forward to coming back again.

Room Tip: We have stayed in room 1 (a huge room)and also the front loft room. Both were excellent. Our friends...

Would like to express our thanks on behalf of A.T.C for a superb Christmas meal out.

The minute we stepped in from the pounding rain we were greeted by warm & friendly staff who were wonderfuly attentive all evening. Beautiful surroundings & festive touches soon had us feeling quite at home as we gathered ourselves together *2 mini buses worth* & got our drinks.

Christmas meal was perfect! For 3 courses we couldn't fault it. Starters of Soup & Salmon were delicious. Mains of Beef/Turkey or Fish cooked beautifully. Pudding of Chocolate Torte/ Lemon & Lime Cheesecake was rich & flavoursome. Presentation of each dish was Superb & all were very content & happily full! We all had a wonderful night out in such great atmosphere & really enjoyed John DJing all the Panto songs etc requests! :D

Most enjoyable & will definately be back! Either for ourselves or as future group nights out!

Thanks for everything! Spot on!

We booked to stay 16th & 17th of November 2012 using the Groupon deal of £89 for 2 people for 2 nights including breakfast & a complimentary bottle of wine. The booking experience was totally painless thanks to Lindaa as i have never used a Groupon deal before.
On arrival Gina met us at the front desk & couldn't have been more friendly & helpful, showing us around the hotel & explaining the facilities.
We payed an extra £5 a night to stop in 1 of the loft rooms & this was a bargain as they are very roomy with a table & 2 comfortable chairs as well as the usual tea making, fridge, spotless bathroom, plenty of storage space & the carpet was so thick & bouncy I could have slept on it.
The hotel also features the first class Italia Plus restaurant on the first floor which features an early bird special where the time you order is what you pay for your main course (I paid £6-15 + an extra £1-50 for steak) up until 6-30. Our total bill was just over £30 & the service & food was exemplary. On leaving the restaurant Gina presented us with a voucher for £10 to spend in the restaurant for the second night which we used, had another excellent meal & payed just over £20 for 2 first class meals & a couple of drinks.
Breakfast was of the same quality with plenty of options.
Overall we had a fantastic time, we relaxed in the hotel where we were fed & watered did some sight seeing, in a very interesting area & go to Cragside which is 10 minutes away & was home to Lord Armstrong who was a very interesting inventor with a fabulous house & massive garden & lakes & best of all the proceeds go to the Nation Trust.

My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary at the Coquetvale Hotel from 16-18 November 2012. We got a really great deal and had never visited before so didn't quite know what to expect. However we needn't have worried because the hotel was superb. Lovely friendly staff (particularly Lynda, Gina and Rema), large clean comfortable bedroom with spa bath, excellent restaurant. My husband has coeliac disease and there weren't many gluten free choices on the menu but the chef made a couple of excellent recommendations. Probably best value for money hotel stay I have ever had and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends. Loved the village of Rothbury too.

My husband and I have just returned home after a 2 night stay at The Coquetvale Hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff were all so friendly and helpful ( as said by someone else - Gina is a legend!) Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfasts were really good, with so many choices.
We ate in The italian Restaurant both nights and the food was superb,( the Hotel has a great chef.) Clearly they are a good team who work well together.
Rothbury is a a lovely little town and the surrounding area so beautiful, it will be even nicer in the summer so hopefully we shall come again.
We shall definitely recommend the Coquetvale.

My husband and I stayed at the croquet ale hotel at the end of October for two nights in one of the loft rooms, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, with a friendly welcome from Lynda the front of house manager, the loft room was spacious, warm and clean with all the modern facilities needed, loved the double sockets at the dressing table for both hairdryer and straightners ( it's the little details that are the most important) there was a chilled bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival and I loved the honesty policy for the fridge in the room, packed full of goodies, drinks and snacks.
We ate in the restaurant within the hotel, couldnt fault the food, and again the staff were friendly warm and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely relaxing time by finishing off our evening with a few drinks in the bar, chatting to the friendly barman, telling us all about the area and sampling some local ciders!!
The late check out was ideal, with breakfast served until 10am, the breakfast facilities were great, freshly cut bread for toasting and a great selection of cooked options to choose from.
We left after two days feeling totally relaxed and with the croquet ale firmly on our lists of places to stay in the future.

Room Tip: All rooms looked lovely but we preferred the modern loft rooms with the spacious ensuite bathroom an...
