My wife and I spent the weekend of 9 -11 November at the CV. From arrival at reception to departure everything was just so good. The restaurant was superb and service great including Saturday evening when we part of a party of 18. Gina, Rema and Lynda all great and we will be going back.Thank you Coquetvale, it was a lovely return to Rothbury

Can't fault our stay here. The staff looked after us so well, but were never intrusive (Gina is a legend! She works so hard but is always friendly, helpful and smiling). The room was warm and cosy, the breakfast was good with a wide choice available, the evening meals in the restaurant were fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We had room 6 and it was fine.

Stayed for 2 nights at half term in a twin room. Our room had everything we needed and was spotless. Breakfasts were excellent, the Italian restaurant excellent as were the staff too. There is a guests lounge up the stairs from the bar with comfy sofas. 5 min walk to town centre.

Room Tip: Twin room no 6 suited us fine.

There are good things to say about the hotel. It is conveniently situated a five minute walk across the river from the town centre. Although the outside looks dour, a great deal of trouble has been taken to modernise the facilities and the public areas, particularly the Italian restaurant, are attractive. The food in the reastaurant was excellent and the welcome and service from the staff were first class. The bedroom we slept in was large and comfortable and was provided with the usual facilities of TV and tea/coffee-making kit. The ensuite was satisfactory if a bit jaded.

The not so good aspects were that everything creaked in the bedroom: the floorboards and the twin beds. The bath was cracked and clearly leaked because water seeped up from some broken floor tiles. The only sitting area for residents is in the bar. If the one sofa and one easy chair are occupied, the alternative is to sit on upright chairs at small tables.

The owners are making excellent steps to improve the hotel but my recommendations to them would be first take down the tatty banner advertising the restaurant on the outside wall, tidy up the forecourt and shrubs, provide better public seating in the bar area, move the woodburning stove to where the residents can enjoy it, and finally to improve the maintenance programme generally.

Room Tip: There is no lift and all the bedrooms are at least two floors up,

This Hotel is a gem, this was our first visit and we will go back. It is an old building and the furniture and some fittings are tired. However the owners are clearly working on this and it was clean comfortable and warm.

breakfast was excellent and the restaurant is also very good.

Staff were friendly and helpful literally everything was No Problem.

Room Tip: Ask for top floor for the views and less noise from the resturant

From the moment you step in the door friendly staff are there to great you and help you in anyway they can. I came to the hotel as part of a family and the staff were only to happy to help accommodate us and added an extra bed to our room for my little brother.
The room itself was lovely, plenty of space and storage for belongings. The bathrooms are a good size and well maintained. The room and the bathroom were completely spotless, unlike other places I have stayed.
We all enjoyed a meal in the restaurant downstairs. The food is wonderful from the starters all the way to the puddings. Delicious.
Again the staff here were amazing always making sure we were alright and had everything we needed. Especially Gina she made our stay and meals extremely happy, going the extra mile and taking time even when out in the village to stop and chat with us.
It is exactly what hotels need friendly faces.
There was so much to choose from at breakfast it was hard to make a decision, but i can recommend the full english, excellent food just like in the restaurant.
I would definitely recommend this hotel and the restaurant and look forward to visiting again.

We stayed here for two nights with our walking group and had a great time. Our room was clean and had been redecorated. The bed was a normal double and we would have liked a king but was not a major problem. The bathroom did not have a bath just a shower and was a little dark and dated but clean. The towels were lovely - pure white and soft. The food was of a very good standard and the staff were delightful. Nothing was too much trouble for them even though they were very busy.
I would certainly recommend the hotel to others.

Room Tip: If required ask for a bath and/or a king size bed
