The menu had nothing suitable for anyone who is calorie conscious, but if you like piled up plates of carbohydrates then this is the place for you.
They seem to prefer serving their locals but maybe it was just a bad day.

Thanks for your review, we do indeed offer 5 different burgers, but in addiiton to the burgers there are around another 30 home made dishes to choose from. Since your visit we have a new head chef who is working on a new menu so i do hope you try us again :)

My in-depth review.

- Food Presentation: 8.0 / 10.0. Served on a slate. However the chips were served in a very small, what appeared to be, sauce pot.
- Initial Taste: 0.0 / 10.0. Edges of the burger were burnt. Inside the burger wasn't cooked and was red.
- Texture: 0.0 / 10.0. Was not burger like.
- Portion: 2.5 / 10.0. Burger was large but there was only about 8 chips, literally. One of which was not cooked. (Solid potato).
- After taste: 0.1 / 10.0. Disgusting. No taste to the burger. Undercooked. Burnt edges. I only ate half of it, and that's cause I was hungry.
- Additional: Partners soup was Carrot and Corriander, she said it was far too peppered. We also noticed other customers picking at their food.
---
- Staff 1.0 / 10.0. Never asked once how the meal was. Although a young lady was friendly.
- In-Depth:
- 1st encounter: Older lady (possibly the cook) asked if we were finished.
- 2nd encounter: Same lady just came n took the plates away.
- Additional: When we walked in, no one greeted us, even when the staff walked past us.
---
- Cost: Average. £6 ish for the burger. £4 ish for partners soup and chips (strange girlfriend, I know) lol.
---
- Additional: Upon arriving 2 out of the 4 tables at the top terrace, were full of dirty plates.
- Condemants: Very limited selection. Very cheap. In fact, there wasn't any mayo! Some of the baskets were empty.
---
- Overall: 0.5 / 10.0
The rear garden is nice. But that's about it. I also had a sore gut from here! I know that cause that was my first meal of the day! Nothing annoys me more than somewhere that serves food that can't cook food!!

-- Conclusion: Save your money and health. Stay well clear!!

Thanks for your feedback, we have had a few teething issues but would love your thoughts on our new head chef and staff, we are currently working on a new menu to in addition to some major renovation works & improvements :)

Thanks for your feedback, please let me address each point,
The home made burger has paprika as one of its seasonings which does give it a pink-ish colour it's not under cooked, the burger is extremely large and therefore we don't serve with a mountain of chips (certainly more than 8!) as all the feedback we have had was that people were too full after their burger. the portions offer excellent value for money. As for the texture the mince is purchased from our local butcher and they are made by our own chef therefore I’d be highly disappointed if it did indeed taste anything remotely resembling the usual fast food fodder.

The soup is very popular and its unfortunate that it wasn't to your partners liking. Did you speak to any of our staff at the time of your meal? We are approachable and friendly, with our customers service at heart.

We have a new chef and several new members of staff who are striving to improve our service, however that said I simply do not believe our food made you ill. We serve around 100 covers a day over the summer months and have never heard anything of the sort before.

We stopped in this lovely village on the way back from a day trip. The pub looks plain from the front but has a great beer garden to the rear with a kids play area.

The staff were friendly but it was let down by tasteless greasy food. We had fish and chips that needed tarter sauce adding to give it some flavour. The batter was greasy and soggy. The chips were nothing to write home about.

Overall a nice pub let down by its food.

Myself and my girlfriend are veggies and were starving and passing through Rothbury. Fish and chips here we heard are great. The chippy was closed so thought the good looking local would be a good bet. How wrong.

Ordered a pint of smooth and the bar lady didn't know what it was. I had to point out that they served John Smiths. Asked for a pint of orange and lemonade and got s half pint. We then ordered food, a veg lasagne and a veg burger. Long story short the lasagne came frozen in the middle. It was most likely from a cheap supermarket and put in the microwave. The burger was the same sort: cheap tasting and heavily burnt. The staff had no idea and no apology was issued or any sort of reimbursement. Really bad pub.

I find it odd that you have only every left 1 review in over a year and not previously responded to our questions. Apologies if this is a genuine review from a genuine customer, please feel free to get in touch as we would dearly love to resolve any genuine issues.

Whilst we have had a few teething issues I’d love your thoughts on our new head chef and staff, we are currently working on a new menu to in addition to some major renovation works & improvements.

With regards to the bar staff not knowing a nic name for a john smiths I really can't see how this could have marred your visit to our pub, we sell over 100 drinks and can't possibly know every term for every beverage available.

The Turks is owned by the same people as the Queen's Head. Meals are served until 6. They have real ales and a good value menu. This is not haute cuisine. It is good value bar food. Service is excellent.
