Owner description: The beautiful 12th century church of the Augustinian priory of Brinkburn survives completely roofed and restored. Picturesquely set by a bend in the River Coquet, it is reached by a scenic ten minute walk from the car park. Parts of the monastic buildings are incorporated into the elegant adjacent manor house. Brinkburn Priory's doors will be open to visitors from Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holidays from the 1 April - 30 September 2014. Don't Miss Scenic views of the river Coquet The wonderfully restored 12th century church The beautiful grounds and elegant manor house

This is a beautifully restored 12th century Augustinian priory by the river Coquet in Northumberland. The floors are original and uneven. You can almost imagine the monks singing plainchant as part of their worship. The adjacent manor house unfortunately has lacked funding for restoration but looks to be part of the original monastic priory. The area is superb for walking and appreciating the beauties of nature. There are musical events which take place in the priory itself. The acoustics are perfect for this type of event which can transport you to a former era. Well worth a visit even for a short time.

lovely building and very evocative. Music festival is amazing as is the rare church services held here. longish walk from car park and rough underfoot but worth it.

This old priory is set by the banks of the Coquet surrounded by well kept lawns with a peaceful atmosphere. The stained glass windows and the old graves set into the floor create a feeling that the monks are still there.Although not a lot to see it is still worth a visit and cost of admission was only £3.20 (concession) with free parking.

A great little place to visit for an hour, beautifully preserved priory. very interesting and unusually situated at the bottom of a fairly steep slope, away from the crowds. the staff were really helpful.
