Picturesquely set by a bend in the River Coquet, it is reached by a scenic ten minute walk from the car park. Parts of the monastic buildings are incorporated into the elegant adjacent manor house. Brinkburn Priory's doors will be open to visitors from Wednesdays to Sundays and Bank Holidays from the 1 April - 30 September 2014. “Definitely worth a detour”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Brinkburn is a little gem.
At present the Rothbury road is out so some travellers may find access difficult, but if you are coming from the east there is no problem.
The location (near the river) is pretty. It is difficult to say exactly why the priory appeals. Perhaps the semi-ruined state. Certainly location.
Don't rush the visit. Pack a snack in your pocket and sit down somewhere to enjoy the place. You can hear history here.

“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

What a shame that this is hidden away and receives so few visitors. That is mot aided by the road from Rothbury being closed due to subsidence. This priory has been renovated and comes as a real shock and wonderful surprise, because the work done on it is excellent and tasteful and it is so uplifting to actually see what the priory would have looked like in its prime. The manor house next to it is also really interesting.

Make the effort to go and see it; you will be rewarded!

“Lovely and peaceful.”
Reviewed April 29, 2013

Lovely old priory and very quiet setting, on a u-bend of a river. We attended a wedding here and loved the setting. The self catering apartments looked lovely too.

Reviewed January 4, 2013

What a lovely afternoon spent on one of the warmest days of last year, we happened upon a wedding being held there, so it was great seeing all the wonderful outfits, after the wedding we went around the church and the house, a must see, one of the best days we had last year, and the sun was shining too!!

“My Peaceful Place”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

This place has to be my top thinking place. The most quiet beautiful spot in the county. Also I managed to get in free. (I knew the land owner there. I didnt sneak in)
